Neither school wanted to publish the results for "competitive reasons" - whatever that is. Can't imagine anybody learning much from a website write-up of an early exhibition game where everybody plays. Most school website write-ups tend to be a little pollyanna anyway. Be that as it may, I'll play along yet try to give a little flavor without giving away the goods.

As you can imagine for a 2:00 PM kickoff - very hot. About 95 at game time. They played like 3 30-minute periods. By the end of the match, all the players were happy to get off the field.

Games like this are to see what the new players show. From my point of view, looks like the Flyers have 2 or 3 frosh that will help immediately - which is what is needed. Dayton played ok and came out on top but there is obvious room for improvement - as there was plenty for the coaches to critique. Louisville was 5-11-1 last year and 2-8-1 in the Big East conference and lost 4 seniors to graduation - so they were pretty young last year. Yet to be seen how much they have improved over last year. The Cards do have one particular freshman that looked outstanding and gave us fits both defensively and offensively. Interesting factoid - the Louisville coach, Karen Ferguson Dayes, is the wife of Cincinnati men's soccer coach Hylton Dayes.

Another 10 days before the first match for real against Butler. Lots of hot practice time before then.
