Saint Mary's Game Thread

One of the best non-conference teams to come to the Arena in quite some time... We will battle through the recent adversity and compete at a great level against a top 20 team.

Game is on Saturday at 2 PM and will be shown on Fox Sports Ohio.

This will be one heck of a test against a smaller, undermanned team.

St. Mary's beat Prairie View A&M 110-72 last night. PV is not good (kenpom=308th) and was playing their 3rd west coast road game in 6 days. SMC had 7 players in double figures and played only one player more than 22 minutes.

If Arch figures this one out, he's a magician. If we can keep this one close (within 5 with 5 to go) I like us for the way we finish. If the absence of two starters is too much to overcome, no one should be shocked. This St Mary's team checks all the blocks needed to support their #16 ranking, and they are all healthy and experienced.

SM is huge up front. Not only will we miss Pollard and Cunningham, we have very few fouls to give. Look for them to pound it inside and if we double team, kick outs to open shooters will haunt us. If we foul, Sam and X will sit, and we are really in trouble. The prospects of this game have me sick, and also sick from what could have been with Steve, Pollard and Cunningham.

Go to the link, then down to the UD game. It's the first college bball game listed. The far right side of the page has the betting action. And I did make a mistake. The 94% was the money line betting split. The point spread betting split is currently 64/36 for SMC. So heavy both ways on SMC, just more so on money line. I would expect both the even out now the SMC is the favorite.

Bookies and oddsmakers and sharps look at pure numbers. You cannot quantify heart. I dont care about any of it. I DO know Scooch,Kyle and Charles are gonna be playing a ton of amped up minutes and Archie is piloting the ship. 94% be like "Oh well, lets hit the buffet"

Huge momentum shift when Cooke missed front end of 1 and 1 when 32-26, could have cut it to 4.

Turnovers killing Dayton with 8 compared to St Mary's 5. Only being outrebounded by 4 which is fine.

Not sure if it's effort or being out of shape, I think Arch may have missed the boat on this kid. Not sure he is talented enough to play at this level.

Trey still learning defense rotations, Archie's defense is not easy to learn particularly as a freshman.
