Rhode Island Game Thread

Can UD pull the stunner and upset the Rams & break their long home winning streak at the Ryan Center? Not likely but that's why they play the game. I Don't believe in Moral Victories but I want to see Effort and Heart and whatever happens happens.

Game is on Friday at 7 PM and will be shown on ESPN2.

We have a 2-game win streak for only the second time this year. Pull the upset and it sets us up for a lot of good things like a very good chance to finish this up and down season with a 5-game win streak headed into the A10 tournament. How excited would Flyer Nation be with that?

If we can keep it close, we have shooters all over the floor that can make shots at the end. We have to play hard-nose D and rebound all game to get us in that position. The future is bright. Just maybe it arrives on Friday.

PS- a win Friday also gives us a great chance to have a winning record this year.

One thing this team does well is give up points in bunches. Unless there’s another VCU or SLU comeback in them it’s over just like that. Went from a 3-point deficit and Cunningham going to the line to a 15-point deficit in the blink of an eye. I guess that’s the hallmark of a young team for you.

This might make me a sore loser, but I don’t care: if Hurl(ey) leaves his starters in with a 29 point lead with less than 4 minutes to go, after Grant has pulled what few guys he can (with Loser & Loserer back in Dayton), I start clocking people. Tough to win the A10 Tourney with 4 starters on the DL.

Despite all of those turnovers, we essentially stayed with them for 20 minutes. As we saw toward the end of the first half, which mercifully ended as URI was getting their legs, lack of bench hurt us. Guys started becoming fatigued and it was over.

Still I loved that first 18-20 minutes. Something to build off of.
