After hiring June Jones to successfully turn around the football fortunes of SMU, and hiring high-profile basketball coach Larry Brown, SMU Athletic Director Steve Orsini was fired today. Not to mention that he has led SMU into the Big East (come to think of it, maybe THAT is why they fired him).

IMO he should have been fired for waiting so long to excess Matt Doherty, but I digress.

Something is amiss here. Maybe Dallas Flyer has some insight.

In terms of the women it will be easy if they keep it at 14 conference games, with 15 teams everyone should play everyone else one time. That would mean for UD losing one game against Xavier but it would bring about equity in terms of the schedule. VCU won 19 games this past year and fared well in the WNIT. In two years, VCU and Richmond I'm sure will play twice just like UD and Xavier. I would think St. Louis and Butler will play twice. Massachusetts' Plourde Repeats As Louisville Slugger Division I National Player of the Week

Senior pitcher Sara Plourde of Massachusetts has been named as the final Louisville Slugger Division I National Player of the Week of the 2012 season for games played May 7-13. This marks the second time this season and the third time in her career that Plourde has received the honor. She was previously named as the Louisville Slugger Division I National Player of the Week on April 3 of this season and April 5 of last season.

Elko, Brockett, Caputo Earn A-10 Weekly Baseball Honors

Temple's Matt Elko and Richmond's Andrew Brockett have been named the Atlantic 10 Conference Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, the league office announced on Monday. Rhode Island's Tim Caputo was also honored as the Conference's Rookie of the Week. The three student-athletes were recognized for games played May 7-13.
