I don't tweet, but you're fighting a losing battle, to the point I'm not sure why you care. This is like going 1/4 of a mile over the speed limit.

Until the NCAA decides to enforce it, it's not a real rule. If they did decide to enforce it, it would be someone with a huge profile and it would be the leading story.

This is serious business and I will win the battle. I'm compiling a list of all UD people that tweet at the recruits and submitting it to the NCAA and will demand action immediately!!! UD is an institution of high character and we will win without cheating or even coming close to bending the rules!!!

;)

Fact: tweeting at recruits is a component of "alumni involvement" which goes toward improving UD's U.S. News & World Report rankings. This is quite the quandary.

Especially recruits we just lost/going to lose and begging/kissing up to them. One of the many reasons i like whomever runs the Blackburn Review Twitter account, he wears out folks who do this.

CvilleFlyer 10-02-2017 11:53 PM

A name to remember is Zeb Jackson a 5'9" sophomore pt. guard from Maumee Valley Country Day high school near Toledo, Oh. He was a freshman phenom last year scoring over 40 pts. in several games. Many of his 3 pointers were made from 5 to 7 feet beyond the arc ala Jimmer Friedette from BYU several years back but he has true point guard skills passing and the ability to get to the basket.

Check him out on youtube.com! Kudos to Anthony Grant and his assistants on their ability to spot outstanding talent!

OSU Flyer posted on August 6th that he has several offers and interest from Dayton but this past Sunday, October 1st he took an unofficial visit to UD.

frisco flyer 10-03-2017 12:51 AM

Zen just took an unofficial visit to UD this past weekend

TommyGola 10-04-2017 10:22 AM

Very skilled player for a freshman. He certainly doesn't hesitate to shoot the ball; that is for sure. I like the way he shoots off the dribble. That combined with his quickness makes him very hard to guard. By the time he is a junior, the whole country will be looking at this kid.

Sounds like you are describing McKinley Wright and he would be here but for the change of events this past March with Archie leaving. McKinley stated that UD was one of the first to offer him and he honored that relationship even when power 5 schools started calling. Even though it didn't work out because he is now at Colorado I thought it was pretty cool that he chose UD over his home team Minnesota.

I agree that by the time Zeb is a junior, the whole country will be looking at this kid and I hope, by that time, he has a relationship started with AG and his assistants and decides UD is the place for him.

I hope all of you are aware that this years recruiting class does not have 1 player rated in the top 200, that is not good recruiting on Archie's part, Anthony was forced to get 2 players at the last minute so do not get your expectations very high for this year!!

Both Matt Mobley and Jaylen Adams of SBU were rated 2 prior to their college careers. In fact SBU has an average recruiting rating of 2.2 and many are predicting them at the top of the A 10 this year. You just never know!

Wow, thanks for the tip. All this time I've based my expectations on subjective ratings by basketball wannabe's. Especially after witnessing a couple of Elite 8 appearances while beating team after team of top 100, top 50, and top 25 players.

Just unloaded my season tickets after 33 years...whew!

No you didn't. It was very confusing because this was a thread about 2020 recruiting and nobody was talking at all about their expectations for the 2017-18 team in this thread until you posted. I don't understand why you saw it necessary to bring it up out of the blue - the need to temper expectations about the current season in a thread about recruiting for the 2020 class.

C-time 10-17-2017 05:21 PM

Ray Harper is really confused by this thread and as we all know he is a savant who can figure out anything!

And now back to your regularly scheduled topic of RECRUITS FROM THE CLASS OF 2020. :D

You call questioning why someone would bring up that they believe this season's team is going to disappoint many in a thread about a recruiting class 3 years down the road - kicking you around? OK. Sure.

Just checked Zeb's highlight video's on YouTube and I'm fairly certain that he sat behind the Flyers bench today. I saw a kid sitting with his dad and was wondering if he was a potential recruit. Glad he saw a good performance today.

Either Zeb is standing on something, or he’s taller than 5’9”. Coach Grant is 6’5”, and there’s not 8” difference in the respective height of their eyes. 4-5”, maybe. Not 8”.

Classic point guard skills - you get out on him and he will go around you. You back off and he will nail the three-ball on you. He has those great point guard instincts as well - always looking for a cutter to the basket. I love his smile as well...you can tell he loves the game.

Zeb Jackson is one to watch out of Ohio. Lefty guard is using a mean left to right crossover to loose defenders before elevating in the mid range area. He's also kept his head up for pinpoint passes in the lane.

That was some growth spurt for Zeb Jackson going from 5'9" in Cvilleflyer's post on October 2, 2017 to 6"3" yesterday, April 28, 2018!! At 5'9" I thought we might get the next Calvin Murphy.

I got that height of 5'9" from verbalcommits.com so I assume they were wrong unless that was an eighth grade video of him. He wouldn't have grown that fast in six months.

OSU Flyer 04-29-2018 10:24 PM

Flyer68 04-30-2018 07:46 AM

No problem CvilleFlyer. It just struck me as funny. I wish that would have happened to me when I was that young.

I always thought that rosters prepared by the team are a little generous when giving measurements. I can remember being on campus and standing next to Don May and thinking that he did not seem to be five to six inches taller than me. It did not really matter what they listed him aanyway because he played like he was 6'8".

A lefty with a superb pace and feel for the game, Zeb Jackson is what you call smooth. Running with the C2K Elite 16-under unit, Jackson turned in a quality outing on Saturday morning as he knocked down a pair of mid-range jumpers but also scored at the basket off of crafty change of pace dribble drive moves. What makes Jackson stand out further is the fact that he is already 6-foot-3 and sports a set of long arms that he uses in knifing his way to the rim without much of an issue. In today’s game where versatility is key, Jackson fits the mold of a do-it-all type in the backcourt as a number of Big East and Big 10 programs continue to monitor.

I officiated at the UD team camp this weekend and Mo was there...and trust me when I say he's NOT built like Kostas. Nor does he have the same attitude. I've been reffing his games since junior high and can say that 3 years ago he was a project, but with hard work and time he is now a legitimate major D1 prospect.

I was supposed to ref 2 of his games on Sunday but at the last minute they moved me to another court where Samari Curtis (Xenia) was supposed to be playing...but he was a no-show. UGH!

His family is great...the kid is hard working, focused and polite...and the C'ville coach will push this kid in the right direction. If he comes to UD, he will not be the next #35.

I have yet to see the whole player, but I thought just in the face on one post he looked like KA. Happy to hear all the rest. As a former ELK, I'm cautious about predictions considering Spears and Kavanaugh.

Thanks for the input.

During warmups yesterday Mo, standing 30' out, would throw the ball 20ish feet in the air toward the basket and with perfect timing would wait until it bounced to run, jump and grab that ball at it's peak and slam it down with authority.

This might sound easy to a novice, but for the throw to bounce where it does, and for Mo to time his steps and jump to grab the ball at it's apex, and then to keep your balance and smash the ball thru the rim, all in 1 continuous motion, is anything but easy.

I also have the luxury of perspective and can honestly say that 3 years ago, after a game with Kett Jr High, I left the gym telling friends he's not athletic enough for UD.

Prove me wrong, Mo!!!! ;)

John Hugley IV just turned 16 years of age in December of 2017. He weighed 310 lbs when he was 15 years old! He has lost 45 lbs in the last year to his current 265 lbs. He has 10 Div.1 offers and is doing the right things to make himself a better player. Hope AG and his staff keep an eye on this kid!

In Hispanic naming the second name, in this case Garcia is the mother's last name. Jhery only uses Matos, which means he has dropped using his mother's name. They could still be brothers or related, especially since both are from the Dominican. However, could be just a common name.

He randomly followed me on Twitter yesterday, I looked at his follows and they include quite a few UD folks even from the administration.
