UD Baseball Is Competing....Let's Pay Attention
 

I am surprised that there are very few positive comments about the significant improvement that the baseball team is demonstrating. Last year's new coaching hire seems to have brought some fire into the program; scheduling major programs and actually winning ball games. It seems like many years have passed since UD fielded a competitive baseball team. For those UD Priders who are local to the Dayton area, please give the rest of us an update as to what changes you have been seeing.

Flyers win first game v RI today 5-2!!

Good to see. We were really bad the last few years often hitting as many batters as we had hits. Getting a new coach seems to be paying off almost immediately. Go Flyers

I may have to up my ESPN+ subscription again.

I follow Carolina baseball religiously as I live here and it is huge locally. However I also keep an eye on my Flyers and I for one have certainly noticed the improvement. Today and yesterday were fun, here's to hoping we can win a few more!

#4 seed Fordham just took down #1 seed VCU 2-1. #3 seed Flyers beat #2 Davidson earlier today. It will be #3 Flyers vs #4 Fordham in winner's bracket finals tomorrow at noon. The bracket could not have broken better for us. Pitching is the name of the game and both Fordham and Dayton have now each played 2 games.

#1 seed VCU is gone. Lost to Richmond tonight 6-2. Bracket is wide open.

Flyers score two in the sixth to take a 2-1 lead, Fordham coach ejected, all is good!

Wild semi final against Fordham
 

The Dayton Flyers have a 2 to 1 lead in the 7th Inning after a crazy 6th Inning.

In the top of the 6th Fordham had a runner on 3rd with 1 out. It looked like the player on third tagged and scored after a fly out, but the Flyers appealed to the 3rd base umpire, and he ruled that the runner didn't tag at 3rd before running to home. Instead of a 2-0 Fordham lead, the 2nd run was taken off the scoreboard a 3rd out ended the inning. I don't think ESPN+ has any video of the missed tag, so its hard to say if the 3rd base umpire was correct or not.

The Fordham Manager tried to argue, but ended up getting ejected from the game. This play, combined with the ejection was a big momentum swing. The bottom of the 6th included a few Fordham mistakes. The Flyers second batter got hit by a pitch. The Flyers 4th batter was walked. The Flyers 5th batter of the inning almost hit into an inning ending double play, but the throw to first was high, and that allowed 2 runs to score.

Fordham just tied it at 2 in the top of the 7th on a bunt down the 1st base line. There are two outs and a runner on 2nd.

Rams took a 1 run lead in the eighth, 3-2. Need a couple, let's go flyers.

Flyers beat the Cats 5-2. Need a sweep tomorrow

Fordam wins the championship 4-3 in the 12th. The Flyers made them work for it. A lot to be proud of and build upon.
