2021 UDPride Bracket Challenge

Here it is Flyer Fans, your opportunity to live vicariously through yet another team not wearing the Red & Blue vD logo. Some questions this will hopefully answer:

1) Will Rollo again get rolled up by CE80?

2) Will Figgie bring his statistical A-game and just destroy the field?

3) Will anyone care one year after our shot was shot?

Only Playaz need apply....

Group Name: UDPride Bracket Challenge 6346536

Password: Rudy

Rules: Fill out as many brackets as you want; brackets locked after first game; private group

....aaaaaand the talking has already begun.

Maybe this won't be as futilely boring as I thought it would be.

rollo 03-14-2021 08:36 PM

He’s a zit now...once he responds...IF he responds, he will become a Royal and Golden hemorrhoid. I can pop a zit. And treat
a hemorrhoid...regardless, I will win!

Rollo will once again fill out 999 brackets and declare victory on anyone that one of his brackets happens to beat.

rollo 03-14-2021 08:54 PM

Preparation H...here we go! Don’t worry, I pay OT!

Don't hate me cuz I'm beautiful. :D

John C. 03-17-2021 01:34 PM

Guess I am surprised there are a number of you that have multiple entries. My view is pick one and go with it. We could all add 10. If you are truly the champion, you go with one!!!!!!

rollo 03-17-2021 01:54 PM

When I want your opinion I'll beat it out of you.

Until then, we're all playing by the rules. Feel free to submit 10...it doesn't help your odds. Each pool, individually considered, has an equal chance of winning or losing. Which in CE80s case, is 0.00%.

Could I recommend a good Optometrist? Or maybe a great company to remodel your bathroom and remove that trick mirror you are looking into! :D

Ummmm, No.

UDGutter2 03-17-2021 02:20 PM

Why are you all talking smack when none of you won the most recent bracket challenge?

It all depends on what your definition of 'winning' is...for CE80, it's all about not finishing last. For the rest of us, it's about kicking his *ss!

Right?!

Well, good for him, he didn't finish last, either. Lol

This Challenge is no place for the thin-skinned, squeamish or her/they pronouners. Which is probably why CE80 hasn’t submitted his picks yet.

Paralysis by analysis. The poor guy.

See when you play one bracket, you think about it a little bit. Something you are not very familiar with. Play all the bracelets you want. Just tell me which is the one you are competing against my one. Recall, I beat 2 out of your 3 last time.

Buckleyma 03-17-2021 05:16 PM

Quandary upon Quandary; do you pick the favorite or do you pick upsets in order to win the bracket championship, is the question?

Not if you are Rollo. One bracket for favorite. One with lots of upsets. One with animals winning. Another with primary colors. Play enough brackets and you are bound to beat someone.

So Rollo, I would assume you are not a math guy. It is true that each individual entry has roughly equal chances to win. However, if you have 10 entries, your chances of winning is 10 times what one entry would be if all selections were made randomly which is likely what yours might as well be.

I'm not trying to beat someone. I'm trying to beat CE80!

So, you're saying that if each Royal pool has a 1% chance of winning, that I could enter 100 pools to guarantee a victory?

C'mon math guy. Is that what you're saying? :whiteflag: Because math doesn't work that way. Unless we're just pulling a name out of a hat...in which case the more times you enter, the higher the chances you're picked.

You are not seriously questioning John C on this - are you?

If one had 1 bracket in a pool with 100 entries, one would have a 1% chance of winning. If that one added 99 brackets to the 1 already in the pool, there would now be 199 entries and therefore the one with 100 entries would have a 100/199 chance of winning or slightly above 50% for the not so understanding of math/probability.

So if you are so “royally “ superior at this, why do you need to enter more than 1 bracket?

rollo 03-18-2021 09:50 AM

Good lord CE80, it’s not a raffle!! When I get every game right, it won’t matter how many brackets John C has entered.

Each entry has an equal chance of winning or losing. Just fill out 3 entries like 7 or 8 others have done. Or 15 like 1 particular person. It’s not against the rules, so as the saying (should) goes: when in Rome, do as Rollo!

If - like some - you believe that all brackets are created equal and that a bracket with all four 16-seeds in the Final 4 has an equal chance of winning as a bracket with all four 1-seeds in the Final 4, don't read this.

CE80 03-18-2021 11:40 AM

Last chance Rollo. Let’s make this interesting. Winner take all. $50/bracket. I’ll play 1 bracket. You can play as many as you want but each will cost you $50. You play 3. That’s a pool of $200. If my 1 wins, I get all $200. One of your 3 wins, you get all $200. Deal?

rollo 03-18-2021 12:00 PM

I have 3 in...1 with your name all over it and it's the only one I will need to become the 2021 UDPride Champion!!!!

BTW, for those who may not get it, this is meant to be fun so I won't take any of your money! :D

Don’t do a Kramer like on Seinfeld and bet the guy from Houston on which flight will arrive at the airport first. If you remember Kramer keeps doubling down.

1st Round...what did we learn?

- "Tournamentus Victoriamous!" Sister Jean & Team Gryffindor are still forces to be reckoned with
- This is the year of the double digit seed
- Rollo has butt acne

Results following the thrilling Abilene Christian win...

2. ShowmeFlyer 230 1710
3. Cannonbll2 230 1670

SC_Flyer 03-21-2021 03:28 PM

I would like it noted in the log that for one brief moment in time, SC_Flyer was winning this thing with only having entered two brackets.

That is correct, as of 5:17 PM EDT, 3/21/21, SC_Flyer is winning with a score of 270 and a max possible of 1610.

CE80 03-21-2021 05:55 PM

With Illinois going down, I’m done. Glad to see Loyola-Chicago win though.

Viperstick: Thank you for creating and running this year's UD Pride Bracket Challenge. I wish to encourage you to create and run the pool next year, as well. I enjoyed checking the tabulation to see where my bracket placed. I had great fun with this bracket. I wish to encourage everyone to join the bracket, next year. I'm not just saying this because I won this pool, this year. It was great fun.

YIPPEEE! YIPPEE! I have bragging rights as the winner of the UD Pride Bracket Challenge 2021.
