Day 35 of AG and all we have done is...

Retained 2 of the four freshmen and replaced MW with a guard that seems his equal, landed our European player. so the net loss through all this transition is new player, and a probable transfer. but JC could be an open question. What a great hire AG was, no wonder the majority of priders love the hire.

"we" haven't done anything but argue and tell Ray Harper jokes. CAG and his staff did all of those things you listed.

Just using Scotties words, C-time, just using Scotties words.

You cannot be serious ? MW had 15 offers from top 40 schools, JC had one offer from Chattanooga

Would you have felt better if he had two offers from Chattanooga?

Let's try to be factual: he had offers from Missouri State, UMass, Towson, UT-Chattanooga, Pacific, Cal State Bakersfield, FGCU, DePaul, and Dayton, and had interest recently from Alabama, LSU, Memphis, and Arkansas.

Come to think of it, he might actually have had two offers from Chattanooga: the first one which he originally accepted, then a second one from the new staff.

But if you would rather just be unhappy all the time, we can stop pointing out facts.

You're not really helping your case comparing who they had offers from in regards to who was better solely on offers

35 days into a tough loss of a good coach and a promising hire and the only complaint anyone should have is Rollo' when he said the new pg should have waited until June to commit. It would have been so entertaining to see the few faint of heart Flyer fans hyperventilate. I guess we will have to wait until the new coach gets his first loss before the naysayers ramp back up. The off-season is such a drag. Thank goodness UD will have a very good volleyball season. :)

You've crashed. You've burned. Give it up, Scotty, at least until the season begins. Then when the first loss comes, you'll have at least five months of energy to burn instead of flickering out like the spent candle you've become.

FLYER5 05-07-2017 02:52 AM

You can tell the sensitive posters on this site. He's in your head lmao..

TA111 05-07-2017 07:38 AM

Scottie, I told you to stop digging. The hole is getting mighty deep.

maddog07 05-07-2017 10:38 AM

And got shed of one of the least productive players in Flyer history, thereby adding by subtraction. Let's go AG!

I guess I just don't get this whole interweb message board thing but why is it a good thing to troll a board where we are all fans and alumni of the same team?

I'm all for not agreeing; I've spent more than my fair share of time rolling at my eyes at rose colored glasses posts. I get trolling on board where there are fans of other teams. I just find the joy in aggravating people who essentially want the same end result to be lame.

Agreed.

If a couple of these guys are fans and they are trolling, whats the point? They should go away.

BUT, if these guys are unhappy, maybe extremely unhappy about something, then fine, so be it. Many of us voice our displeasure on here all the time. Some more then others.

Im a firm believer that these athletes/coaches are fair game and should be held accountable as well as be praised. If they play like crap and get called out for it, thats ok. If they aren't making the grades and miss class and get called out for it, thats ok. If they are breaking the law and get called out thats ok too.

Families are not fair game, its not ok to call a players mother names, its not ok to make fun of a players disability or the way he looks. If a player /coach is representing my team and being compensated for it (scholarship/paid) then i will comment positively or negatively as i see fit.

Guys like udscott, maddog and kiefaber should not be censored in any way. They have extreme negative opinions sometimes, sometimes i do too. I rarely agree with their takes but they should still be allowed to have them.

Unless its outright trolling leave them be, and if they are trolling , the sole purpose of trolling is to hook people, the more the better. Still leave it be and dont encourage it.

Not a fan of threads being closed. At all.

I agree with your agreement!

The only disagreement I have, and I'm not even sure if it is one, is that at least a couple of the people you mentioned specifically post in a manner designed to troll. As I said, I'm all for divergent opinions. I have no issue with criticism of coaches or players. Although I will say I think it can be presented in a way that is measured and intelligent... just like your opinion above was written.

I assume they went to a decent university and are capable. I have no issue with sarcasm or heated disagreements at all and there are always going to be posts that are written quickly and/or passionately that probably could have been handled better. I know I've been guilty. No harm; no foul. But it definitely seems that much of what is written by some of the people you mentioned falls into the trolling area as opposed to the dissenting opinion area. This was all a very long winded way of saying that I don't want them censored but I wish they would censor themselves a bit.

And I agree with your opinion. I don't try to aggravate anyone that gives me the respect that I give them. There are a few radical posters here but I don't consider myself one. I do submit provocative posts but it's only because no one else is posting about it. There are a few like I said. However there are droves with blind faith. And a few of those stand out as well, IMO. Jmo.

What honestly bothers me is not the negativity but the lazy hyperbole. If you have been following Dayton for any number of years, you could probably jog your memory and name at least 20 less productive players. If you had all the stats at your disposal, you could generate a list of 50 at least with little problem.

It is an outlandish statement but I find that part a little humorous. C'mon, you know what to expect. At the root of his posts usually lies some truth though. He's like A-1 steaksauce. What are you gonna do :)

Dayton University announced today that they are extending the contract of Tony Grant by an additional 30 days.

"Based upon his outstanding work in the first 35 days and the overwhelming approval of message boards, Dayton University is pleased to keep Coach Grant through June 15th. He will have to prove himself again to merit one more contract review", said UD Athletic director Dave Harper.

is Dave Harper you-know-who's brother?

Crosby now coming back. Net loss as far as players is concerned is one 6'6 freshman forward. If Mikesell is out for season, that's still a position of quantity with Josh, KA, Svaboda, XW and Landers as a tweener.

With extra open scholarship this year and one next year(assuming nobody leaves early) we will need one SG and one Center IMO. to fill those two openings. We will certainly need another PG and forwards in 2 years when we will have 4 or 5(depending on Mikesell's status) openings.

Things are looking up.

I hate to put it this way, but the keys to a successful 2017-2018 season will depend on the improvement of 3 players, DD, Crosby and Miller.

BRob2Perryman3 05-28-2017 12:01 PM

Let me see if i have this straight:

We lose Archie and his entire staff. We lose our 3 star Point Guard and Naz Carter from the recruiting class.

We hire a Coach with many ties to the program, Coach Grant's first chair coach has Division 1 head coaching experience. His other 2 assistants are regarded as good to great recruiters.

We retain EVERY SINGLE returning player.

Svoboda,Davis and Pierce honor their LOI.

Coach Grant goes out and gets Jalen Crutcher to replace Mckinley Wright and an athletic 6'9 forward to replace Carter.

Did any of us in our wildest dreams think this would happen the day Archie left?

There isnt a soul on this board that wouldnt have signed up for this.

We have much to be thankful for. Neil Sullivan and Anthony Grant. Well done Gentlemen

GoFlyer 05-28-2017 01:22 PM

And a $72 M renovation of the arena with . . . at least so far . . .reasonable increases in seat license cost . ..
