And So It Begins...
BEVERLY HILLS (MI) -- Today marks the official start of the 2019-2020 UD Mens Basketball season, as AG rolls out the roundballs for the team's first real practice of the new campaign. In 33 days UD will face Cedarville in their sole exhibition game, a week after their "secret scrimmage" with the UC Bearcats. The Red and Blue will then kick the whole thing off vs. Larry Bird U on November 9th in the 50th year of Flyer B-ball at the newly-renovated UD Arena.

Still TBD are answers to things like:

-- Who will make up the starting five?

-- Will Chase Johnson get his waiver from the NCAA to play immediately as opposed to waiting until the end of 1st semester?

-- How will the transfers (Johnson, Ibi Watson, Jordy Tshimanga and Rodney Chatman) fit in with the returning nucleus?

-- Is freshman man-child Moulaye Sissoko ready to provide valuable minutes or will he be glued to the pine?

-- Will redshirt soph Obi Toppin take his game to another level at UD before taking it to the NBA?

We are about to find out!

Elsewhere in hoopdom and the world at large:

-- Speaking of Obi, the latest draft projection from ESPN has the big fella going to the LA Lakers with the #24 pick:

Toppin certainly helped to improve his draft stock with a tremendous showing at the Nike Skills Academy:

-- In the projection department, UD did not crack the Top 25 assembled by Blue Ribbon:

The Flyers did however check in at #38 in this SWAG by CBB Central.com:

Finally, in the only rankings that really matter, UD holds down the #4 spot in the Barstool preseason Top 25 Party Schools:

-- CBS Sports college basketball writers Gary Parrish and Matt Norlander asked this question of college basketball coaches:

What is your No. 1 issue with the NCAA Tournament selection process?

Here are their answers:

-- College hoops stat guru Ken Pomeroy brings us the science with a chart predicting the breakeven point in three point shooting percentage by game time and margin.

Translation: what the three point percentage would need to be in order to equal a 50% two point shot:

Hope you got all of that because there will be a quiz about it on Friday.

-- Is it just me or does it appear that this guy from Eurobasket.com who interviewed Former Flyer Jordan Sibert was paid by the word?

-- I can remember reading Alex Kline's college hoops website when he was still in HS. Now 25 he has turned his passion into a career as an NBA scout with the NOLA Pelicans and a vehicle to help give back in memory of his mother:

-- In fiscal year 2018, NCAA Division I public schools' spending on compensation for administrators and support staff surpassed their spending on scholarships for the first time:
