2020 recruit Alayna Yates
 

Her high school team is from Cedar Falls, IA and ranked #1 in the state. According to the news clip video, they are undefeated and haven’t lost a SET this year. She is a 6’6” MB. #17. She gets a kill off a slide at the end of the video. I like her arm speed for a high school junior.

Another highlight clip. Not as impressive here, but I think it had to do with the competition. In the first clip they were playing the #2 ranked team. In this clip the other team didn’t have a lot to stop her so it’s not as explosive, but very effective.

You have to like she’s 6’6” and pretty athletic. She is ahead of our last 6’6” MB who took a redshirt year because she couldn’t keep the ball in the court as a freshman but ended her career as A10 POY. If Amelia gets a medical redshirt this year, we would have two years with 6’5” Amelia and 6’6” Alayna playing MB, 6’4” Jamie on the rightside, two 6’1” OHs in Allie and Mikaylah and Maura and Liz in the backrow. Plus 6’2” Brooke and Bridget playing Setter for one year and Josie waiting in the wings to take over the second year. That’s a lot of height, a whole bunch of experience and a boatload of talent. And doesn’t even factor in any other 2019 and 2020 recruit talent. The future is so bright.

Cant coach 78 inches.

Sorry if I missed it....is she a commit, did we offer or is she a potential recruit?

Verbal commit for 2020. She’s a junior in high school this year.

Thanks for asking Dave. Figgie and I discussed this thread about her Wed night and neither of us remembered she was a commit. Great to hear.
