DallasFlyer 11-19-2008 07:25 PM

One of the newcomers is going to have a big game tonight. Who will it be?

Bill McPeek 11-19-2008 07:28 PM

We just better start rebounding!

Flyer_Tom 11-19-2008 07:29 PM

Step Up player

I'm going with CJ, slightly over Lowery

Canonball 11-19-2008 07:32 PM

Maybe they should let the P/A do the starting lineup this is distracting.

Rebound Rebound Rebound

go flyers!!!!

My son had it set up so the computer could be hooked up with the TV. Problem is he moved out three days ago

Bill McPeek 11-19-2008 07:38 PM

The D is pretty good.

Canonball 11-19-2008 07:39 PM

Did he just call London .... Warren Williams?

Bill McPeek 11-19-2008 07:40 PM

Didn't hear that. Getting to the line!

Yes, I heard that too. Maybe the point guard situation is worse than we thought and BG pulled some strings to get WW an extra year of eligibility.

Flyer_Tom 11-19-2008 07:43 PM

All I want for Christmas

is a Dayton team that knows how to BURY someone. As long as i can remeber no Dayton team has had that kind if killer instinct. I really hoped CW would bring this to the table...maybe he can.

Tom R

Bill McPeek 11-19-2008 07:48 PM

Is there a lid on the hoop?

Flyer_Tom 11-19-2008 07:49 PM

What the ****

How can any team above 3rd grade CYO miss this many layups? 1 for 10 from the filed...are you serious? 7 of those are from less than 5 feet!!!

Canonball 11-19-2008 07:49 PM

I didn't think it was possible to miss this much from so close.

Canonball 11-19-2008 07:50 PM

My head may explode.

Bill McPeek 11-19-2008 07:51 PM

Two fouls on CL

Flyer_Tom 11-19-2008 07:52 PM

CL Fouls

I am ok with the fouls because they are a result of him being aggressive. That is one positive so far...this team is being VERY aggressive on both ends of the floor.

PinehurstFlyer 11-19-2008 07:53 PM

Man, neither one of our point guards can pass worth a c.ap.

Bill McPeek 11-19-2008 07:54 PM

Another fugly game

Canonball 11-19-2008 07:55 PM

Translate this patience on defense to patience on offense and we win.

flyguy 11-19-2008 07:56 PM

ugly?

Does this qualify as ugly? Once we settle down we'll be fine, but they look like they're all hyped up on speed. Great for defense, but no so much on offense.

Canonball 11-19-2008 07:57 PM

I know BG emphasized they need to dribble drive ... but that was a perfect opportunity to get a nice entry pass and RL tried to go all the way to the hoop.

Bucky is right ... calm down guys calm down.

PerrymanFan 11-19-2008 07:57 PM

Defense is superb, 6 steals already! Wow!

Offense looks like JV team, throwing away every possession.

Flyer_Tom 11-19-2008 07:57 PM

Fouls

I was listening to some talking head the other day on some sports radio staion and he commented that the only sport that there truly is a home court adavtage when it comes to fouls called is college basketball. He claimed you could look at all the stats and the visiting team almost always has more fouls called on them. I have been a Flyer fan for 30 years and I do not think we have EVER had that kind of advantage at home. We do have a GREAT crowd and an awesome atmosphere for our guys but I have NEVER felt we got calls at home.

PinehurstFlyer 11-19-2008 07:57 PM

Haha. You're right. Larry just said we need to caaalm down.

frisco flyer 11-19-2008 07:58 PM

Defense is keeping us in this one.
Where is the spark?

Sid Louick 11-19-2008 07:58 PM

If we don't get our offense going, can you imagine what Marquette will do to us.

AdamtheFlyer 11-19-2008 07:59 PM

I love the energy, but Larry and Bucky are right. They're hurrying.

"Be quick, but don't hurry" -- John Wooden.

If this team ever learns to let the game come to them, they're going to be really, really good.

Bill McPeek 11-19-2008 08:00 PM

that's our "O"......get out on the break and feed CW!

PerrymanFan 11-19-2008 08:00 PM

CW could jump through the roof. Amazing!!

Go Flyers!!

right there. please ask for 5 three pointers in a row now, and maybe a final four appearance.

Flyer_Tom 11-19-2008 08:01 PM

There we go

Thats much better...we have WAY to many athletes to not be running a team like this into the ground.

swish61 11-19-2008 08:01 PM

Maybe that dunk by CW is the spark? 17-10 Dayton.

Canonball 11-19-2008 08:03 PM

Nice work from Devin and Luke. Much better tonight.

Bill McPeek 11-19-2008 08:03 PM

The Chris Wright show!

flyguy 11-19-2008 08:04 PM

are we padding the offensive rebound stats or what? they are playing hard. no complaints here.

Bill McPeek 11-19-2008 08:07 PM

Luke needs some time in the weight room

AdamtheFlyer 11-19-2008 08:07 PM

6 steals and 10 offensive boards. Very nice.

Shooting like poo. Not nice. That has to come back to normal at some point.

swish61 11-19-2008 08:08 PM

freshman

Frosh are getting some playing time.

AdamtheFlyer 11-19-2008 08:08 PM

Stephen Thomas is a man!

Canonball 11-19-2008 08:09 PM

Someone call BG and suggest the layup drill where someone sits there with the padded dummy and pounds people trying to make the shot. This is inexplicable. I don't know how we can miss this many within 5 ft.

AFflyer 11-19-2008 08:09 PM

need to keep CL on the bench

last game couldnt rebound, this game we do. this game cant make a layup, better work no rebounding and all layup drills between now and next game

Canonball 11-19-2008 08:15 PM

Defense and rebounding looks great. That last dsu bucket looked like dude traveled but my screen is a bit fuzzy.

I can't believe this shooting however. It's not like these are jump shots.

Not hitting any shots at all, but "playing" pretty well. Keep playing like this, the shots will fall. I suspect we'll run away after half.

Game to keep an eye on, Mercer at Auburn. 8-4 Mercer early on.

swish61 11-19-2008 08:16 PM

UD 28-21 at the half.
BG seems to have these guys better prepared tonight that Sunday. Maybe more game film to work with?

AdamtheFlyer 11-19-2008 08:18 PM

Very good first half from Stephen Thomas, too. He made a mistake in the lane of a fast break, but other than that perheps his best half of basketball as a Flyer.

priceg75 11-19-2008 08:19 PM

Good effort in the first half. Our shooting will come around. I love that Luke is not hesitant to take shots... but at the same time, he needs to recognize chances to dribble drive at certain points. If that's not his game, he shouldn't be playing that spot against the zone.

swish61 11-19-2008 08:20 PM

trap

When we go to the full court press. I wish we would trap more. Kinda surprise em with it.

UDBerg09 11-19-2008 08:20 PM

Loving the pressure defense in the first half. Sloppy shooting but, hey, at least the free throws are going in.

Goood point. I think we were 7-10 ? from the line??

Canonball 11-19-2008 08:22 PM

Paul saw quite a bit of minutes. Must be feeling healthier. Although I think he fell behind rotating on defense and they hit a wide open three on him.

Freshman seem to be getting things a little bit more tonight. We actually played all 3 together for a spot.

I'd love to see us play a little run and jump

What does "run and jump" mean??

Bill McPeek 11-19-2008 08:31 PM

Once the ball is put on the floor the defender from the direction the ball is going "jumps" or surprises the ball handler and the defender guarding the ball rotates over to pick up the vacated offensive player. The idea is to surprise the ball handler and have him either pick up his dribble or make a hurried pass which can be picked off by another defender. A third defender can even enter the rotation. The ball defender just rotates till he comes up with an open offensive player. A better name is run and surprise.

Canonball 11-19-2008 08:33 PM

uh charles is our weapon from 10 feet.

Bill McPeek 11-19-2008 08:33 PM

Against that 2-3 zone we have to hit the j from the elbow just like CL did!

Canonball 11-19-2008 08:34 PM

and Charles just used his size!! keep it going chuck

kiefaber455 11-19-2008 08:38 PM

Does Huelsman have any offensive basketball IQ?

Bill McPeek 11-19-2008 08:39 PM

Our defense will keep us in most games. If we could only find some flow to our offense and hit some jumpers.......

Flyer_Tom 11-19-2008 08:40 PM

Much Better

OK this is a marked improvment so far this half. The defense is leading to great chances on offense and we are staying aggresive on both ends. Lets keep it up and win by 20+...this team is terrible, or maybe our D is really good.

Canonball 11-19-2008 08:42 PM

Kurt works way to hard to never get the ball. Not to mention that turnover was due to his defense.

flyguy 11-19-2008 08:44 PM

zoom!

Wow, the guy running the camera just found the zoom controls! Anyone else notice that?

This is a really good sign. Keep up the good work camera guy!

UDBerg09 11-19-2008 08:45 PM

Okay, so Delaware State took something like 6 minutes to score out of the half. That's some tough D.

And 16 Offensive boards... Nice.

swish61 11-19-2008 08:45 PM

Say what they will, but getting some early home games against some "lesser teams", allows us to get our frosh going.

I did notice that! Give that man a Bud Light!

UDBerg09 11-19-2008 08:47 PM

Chris Johnson back-to-back three's. He's going to be a good one.

Canonball 11-19-2008 08:47 PM

I agree on trapping. dsu is abandoning their guard to dribble up. Funnel him to the corner and trap. dsu is not paying attention. It's worth another two steals and probably two buckets.

I agree and this is a young team

swish61 11-19-2008 08:48 PM

UD up 43-23 with 11:00 minutes to go.

The Fly 11-19-2008 08:48 PM

Agree on CJ. Some freshman mistakes on D, but the kid can play. I'm also seeing some good defense from Paul Williams. Encouraging signs.

frisco flyer 11-19-2008 08:49 PM

CJ is having himself a nice 2nd half.
Defense remains outstanding.
Delaware state has road 3 games in 3 days. Desperate for $

shapanud 11-19-2008 08:50 PM

Del St. got off 4 shots in the first 8 minutes of the 2nd half...nice D!!

Bill McPeek 11-19-2008 08:50 PM

CJ with a hustle play

Canonball 11-19-2008 08:54 PM

Much more like the team I thought I'd see. Still crusty on O.

Move your feet luke. Move your feet.

swish61 11-19-2008 08:55 PM

I hope this keeps up, the walk ons can play.

Bill McPeek 11-19-2008 08:56 PM

Luke's not bashful!

AdamtheFlyer 11-19-2008 08:57 PM

Luke has to keep shooting, especially in a game like this. Hopefully he hits a couple before the night is over.

Flyer_Tom 11-19-2008 08:58 PM

D

Is where it all starts...I am very happy with this. Offense will come as they play together more and get more comfortable. Good d will wil you a lot of games.

flyguy 11-19-2008 08:58 PM

Well I don't think we need to worry about Luke being shy. I think he's shot the ball every time he's caught it. Personally I love it. BG will take him out if need be, but I think it's great that the kid believes he is going to hit every shot. And his shot is so quick. Being that tall and having a shot that quick makes him almost impossible to defend against.

masonflyer 11-19-2008 08:59 PM

Fabrizius must be a great shooter. Either that or he has no concsience.

bcross 11-19-2008 09:00 PM

I love the fact that Luke keeps shooting. He will make his fair share of shots so I am not worried.

swish61 11-19-2008 09:02 PM

I agree. Keep shootin the ball Luke.

Bill McPeek 11-19-2008 09:02 PM

I'm not saying he shouldn't keep shooting, all I'm saying is he's certainly not bashful. You have to like that in a shooter.

Canonball 11-19-2008 09:02 PM

Uh uh no you didn"t!!!!

udhoopsfan 11-19-2008 09:02 PM

could someone give me the score...cant get gametracker to open...having computer issues...

AdamtheFlyer 11-19-2008 09:03 PM

Wow, Chris Wright got tired of messing around.

Mickey with a nice assist of the glass to Wright for the Dunk.

15 steals!

Bill McPeek 11-19-2008 09:03 PM

How many dunks does CW have? MP....very unselfish

Canonball 11-19-2008 09:04 PM

56 31 flyers.

That dunk was sick.

Levelbest 11-19-2008 09:04 PM

Oh crap - I hope Chris Johnson is ok.

Oh, and the dunk was SILLY BAZILLI

AdamtheFlyer 11-19-2008 09:05 PM

This is a team. All four players on the court sprinted back to check on CJ. That was the best moment of the game for me, provided CJ is ok.

16 steals!

kiefaber455 11-19-2008 09:05 PM

God help UD if CJ is hurt.
