TV
Anyone have a link to which games will be televised as well as the channels? Nothing on the DaytonFlyers website or ESPN site.

If I counted correctly, only four non home games do not have TV identified yet (either ESPN, SEC, CBSSN, OR NBCSN). Usually Spectrum and FS Ohio pick up most of the home games and a few away games not on a national network so I suspect almost every game will televised.
Will ESPN3 pick up some games as well? I thought I remember reading where the A10 and ESPN had an agreement?

I think all non-nationally a10 televised games will be on espn+. Not a bad deal for $5 a month. In the last 5 years it went from only being able to watch maybe a handful of games for out of towners, to being able to easily watch every game.

Note: "This includes all men's and women's basketball games not televised"
Since I still see the Spectrum Sports banner ad at the bottom of the UD official site not sure there will be any significant changes as far as men's basketball goes. Wait and see

To not derail the A10 media day any further, I called Spectrum yesterday to find out what it would cost to switch back (from Uverse). It was up to $162/month before taxes, etc. I never bothered to get the complete costs. Still over $30/month more than I am paying now. I sure hope ESPN+ has those games that were on Spectrum Sports Channel.

I had to take a modem to the TW store by the Dayton Mall a month or so ago and while I was there they offered me a package of twenty five or so channels that I could watch online in a streaming situation. I have DirecTV for TV so I said no but then asked if the Spectrum Sports channel was included in this package. He looked and said it wasn't. If it had been, I would have strongly considered it. It really is strange that Spectrum wouldn't offer their own channel in a package like that.

Interesting. One of the things the Spectrum rep threw out there was the Spectrum app that was available on Roku an other similar sources. I have 6 TVs and each cable box is $7/month so eliminating a few boxes would help. The kicker is some of these TVs don't get used that much but I want the ability to watch TV there. This is what pushed me to Uverse. I used to be able to watch 99 channels without a box on Spectrum but when they went all digital it didn't work. But if the app doesn't get the Sports Channel that would not help.

Contrary to my post above and Jablonski's tweet, streaming may be occurring. While looking for the replay of the MSOC game from tonight, I just looked at the dates for the men's and women's exhibition on the ESPN Watch schedule. Both are listed for streaming on ESPNPlus.

Do you think that means Spectrum Sports channel will not be carrying games this year? Possibly the same for Fox Sports Ohio? Do the dish providers carry ESPN+?

I believe ESPN Plus is only online. I do think Spectrum and FSO will have some games though.

If you have a smart TV, you should be able to get ESPN+ through an app. You also can watch on TVs equipped with Roku or a similar device.

ESPN+ can be accessed through the Watch ESPN and or ESPN app.

Game notes on daytonflyers out for exhibition game. No mention of any video streaming on espn+. Looking at the schedule for espn+ and no longer
see the exhibition game listed.

The Daytonflyers.com schedule does not show any games on ESPN+, but the ESPN+ shows the next several games.

I'm not sure how recently the TV schedule on Daytonflyers.com has been updated. It still shows TBA for Wednesday's game but it is on the Spectrum Sports Channel.

Spectrum Sports site lists the North Florida and Coppin State games.
Probably more games on Spectrum Sports and Fox Sports Ohio is
a possible as well.

Those games are also listed on ESPN+. So are they on both?

I think ESPN Plus has listed every home 10 game on their schedule.
when they find out the school isn't streaming it, for whatever reason, they remove it. This is what happened with both men and women exhibitions.
I did notice at the bottom of the sign in page that there is a disclaimer that says there may be some blackouts. PERHAPS Spectrum is carrying it and regions that don't have Spectrum will be able to see it on ESPN Plus. a guess

For what it’s worth, the North Florida website has a video link to the game that directs you to ESPN+. If it is Spectrum only, do they also stream the game? Is there a Spectrum app?

The Spectrum app progaming is available to spectrum cable customers
only. Based on what I see on the St. Louis and Duquesne official bb sites if
Spectrum broadcasts it won't be on ESPN+

According to DaytonFlyers .com the NF game will be live streamed outside the Dayton metropolitan area. Good news for out-of-towners. Hope they will do it for the next two games as well.

I emailed Doug Hauschild. His response regarding webstreaming:
It's been a process getting the agreement together with Spectrum and working through the new streaming contract the A10 has.
Spectrum games will be on ESPN+, with the caveat that the live stream will be blacked out in the Dayton DMA.
Once the language is approved, there will be something up on the website.

Nobody will be surprised to hear how far the Dayton DMA reaches out to. I'm 3 hours from Dayton in Ohio. I'm pretty sure this will be blocked on ESPN+ for me. Likely be Larry and Bucky for me unless I hook my laptop up to a different area VPN.

This is a huge win for those even in the Cincinnati and Columbus markets. I was betting basically the games will be blacked out anywhere spectrum has television service. It’s also a brilliant way four UD to get people to the arena to otherwise may have decided to watch it on TV,tye but don’t have spectrum.

It says,
Viewers outside of the Dayton/Spectrum market will be able to view the game on ESPN+.
So what is the Dayton/Spectrum market? Anyone want to bet it gets blacked out in all of Ohio? Either on purpose or unintentionally.
|

The markets are silly. I subscribe to MLB.com, so I can watch the Reds. I know I am a masochist. Games in Washington and Atlanta are blacked out. That is a 4-6 hour drive from here. Silly but true.

It may go as follows: Due to technological hurdles in
blocking access the entire state/states of x y z have to be
blocked.
Not sure a VPN would work either if you read the fine print
on the ESPN+ customer agreement.
Wait and see what the reality is if you live anywhere close.

It's all of Ohio. Like I said above I'm 3 hours from Dayton, in Ohio, and don't have Spectrum TV as an option in my area. Somehow all of that adds up to being within the blackout area.
I have Satelite TV with the big sports package and ESPN+. I can watch basically any random woman's CBB game I want. I still can't watch every Dayton game. "National TV contract" suuuuuuureeeee.

For those interested, ESPN+ has a feature to replay previous games. There's a tab called Schedule & Replays. They apparently keep games from up to a month ago. So if you miss a game, it should be on there!
