Didn't realize he was a rookie/freshman.

Shot 48% in his only year at Siena. Weighs in at 253 pounds.
Let's get a visit and see more of this guy!

Where is the video?

I like Ike but he should change his name to Iki.

Id take Obiagu in a heartbeat. Watched this kid a few times this year on TV. Huge ceiling. Top-100 kid out of HS. Great size. Good athlete. Tremendous rim protector. Could be what Big Steve was on a path toward. Maybe Grant's familiarity with the state of Florida can pull off some magic.

With Ibi, Obi, and Ike, it would be Bucky Bockhorn's Nightmare on Elm Street.

OSU Flyer 04-27-2018 09:34 PM

If this guy had 71 blocks in 364 minutes playing in the ACC, he'd shatter the A10 block record

CvilleFlyer 04-28-2018 12:08 AM

Ike’s real name is Ikechukwu Obiagu. He once had 11 blocks in one game! After watching his you tube videos I was impressed with how athletic he was. I thought he would be slow but he can get out and run and would seem to fit right in with the way AG likes to play. He would be a great rim protector if our guards and wings get beat off the dribble like they did many times last season.

jack72 04-28-2018 08:12 AM

I saw Obiagu play several times. He is a great defender, who needs work on his offensive game. He would be an awesome addition for UD, but he will have a bunch of big name schools after him. Could end up back home at Georgia, or AL or UC.

I agree with this but hoping his somewhat late decision to transfer has already knocked some schools out of the race. Its full-court press time. Run, don’t walk to get in front of this guy.

Only played 24 minutes in 10 games for the Bulldogs (2.4 mpg) this past season. 6"7" 236lbs is listed as a forward, not a center! I think we would be better off recruiting Ikey Obiagu from Florida St. 7'0" center with huge upside!

Rodney Chatman's stats for Chattanooga this past season were almost identical to Jalen Crutcher. Chatman averaged 13.3 PPG and 4.5 assists while playing 32.3 minutes per game while Crutcher averaged 9.2 PPG and 4.4 assists while playing 31.2 minutes per game. Both players had 135 assists but Chatman had 89 turnovers for a 1.5 to 1 ratio while Crutcher had only 64 turnovers for a 2 to 1 ratio which we all agree was a feather in his cap for a freshman PG!

Rodney Chatman is a SO so he would sit one year and play two. The one positive that I haven't mentioned however is that he must drive to the basket a lot more and is more adept at drawing fouls than Jalen because he was 93 for 119 from the free throw line for 78.2% while Jalen was only 32 for 47 for 68%.

Since it seems there are a lot of PG's that are off the board in the 2018 class Chatman may be a good transfer to back up Jalen Crutcher his junior and senior seasons or maybe even start ahead of him although that might be a stretch! I hope we can get Kira Lewis or Tre Mann for 2019 but for next season Dwayne Cohill may need to play PG some to relieve Jalen.

You may be right but that wasn't the point I was trying to make! When McKinley Wright blew up his senior year he was going to be a Flyer up until the time of the coaching change. Some players are loyal and Anthony Grant was one of the first coaches with his Alabama connection to offer Kira Lewis so lets just see what happens!

I believe Rodney Chatman would be a good backup PG to have for two years. He seems to have the ability to get to the basket and draw fouls (shoots 78% from the line). Playing time is something we have to give to a reliable point guard. There are many transfers out there (almost 600 so far) so Anthony Grant and his staff need to exercise caution to keep team chemistry in using the 3 remaining scholarships.

Or they could ask myself or jack72 if they are deadlocked on choosing between two players! Tongue in cheek!

Seriously, you have to have fun with this recruiting stuff because how else would all of us get through the off season.

I would be remiss if I didn't thank OSU Flyer for keeping us up to date all the time! Thank you very much!!!

Minnesota took another higher rated PG from NYC in late August/early September taking them out of the running

I think it might have just been in Memphis in the end

TXFlyerFan 05-04-2018 12:39 PM

Maybe we get one of them, maybe we don't. But until they commit to somewhere or tell AG they aren't interested, or announce a list that doesn't include UD, then I assume we are an option and I love that AG/staff identified and went after these kids long before they blew up on the AAU circuit.

As long as they can both shoot - you can play them together when needed. Nothing wrong with a small lineup that can handle the ball.

Agree with that. Nothing wrong with a 2 PG look

Even with 4 guards that's a fight for minutes Crutcher/Jordan Davis/Cohill/Matos/Landers/Watson in 19/20 with Chatman added. With a 4 guard look that means Obi/Policelli are looking at fewer minutes.

I think it's a good pick up but I wonder how AG keeps everyone happy minutes wise. Maybe it's a Keith Dambrot style only the strong survive scenario

Two scholarships still available. I don't think AG will bring in three transfers that have to sit next year. It would be nice to get a developmental BIG and a grad transfer point guard. That would leave two scholarships for next year (+ any transfers--it is obvious UD is not immune to the new normal)

Very inconsistent and not the best FT and 3pt shooter.

.622 free throws
3pointers i pulled page down, but wasn't great wasn't bad.

Positive 6 foot 6 guard, 4.2 boards a game
Neg 185 pounds.

Inconsistent numbers if you look at individual games and scoring records for 2017-'18

2.6 assists per game too. At this point, he doesn't seem to fill a real need. We NEED a big.

But I can also see the logic in stockpiling guys who have the size and skill set to play multiple positions, who can fill every area of the stat sheet.

Hartfield leg the Horizon League in steals, shot 34-35% from 3 despite being ice cold to end the year and had good games offensively against Butler and Depaul.

Nevada forward Marcel Pettway will transfer and has the chance to play immediately next season, he tells @Rivals. Sat out this past year after transferring from Bryant where he averaged over 10 points and six rebounds his sophomore season.

Pettway got recruited over at Nevada with a McDonald's AA and another grad transfer big coming in. Undersized power foward. He's only 6'5 but the guy is 250 and built like a tank.

A 6'9" 240lb SR center, Connor MacDougall transfering from New Mexico is immediately eligible and hasn't been mentioned on this thread as yet. He injured his ankle last season and missed many games. He is listed as a 3 star and scout even had him as a 4 star. Shoots 80% from the free throw line and has good post moves.

He could be the big man that would give Cunningham some rest. We should at least invite this kid in. It would be worth taking a look because the list of available big men that are available is dwindling fast.

Attended Corona Del Sol High School in Arizona and was the second rated center in the state his senior year in 2014! He was recruited by Arizona St. and then decommited to New Mexico.

He isn’t by chance related to former Alabama star, Antoine Pettway, is he? Grant hired Antoine as an assistant at Alabama and I think there is a pretty strong relationship there.

Pettway was the Northeastern Conference's freshman of the year

During his two seasons at the D-I level, Pettway has averaged 10.9 points, 6.8 rebounds, 1.7 assists and one steal per game while shooting 58.9 percent from the field. As a sophomore, Pettway ranked second in the NEC in field-goal percentage and ninth in rebounding.

Bryant is considered a low-major D-I school, but Pettway has had some success against higher-level schools. He recorded 15 points, 12 rebounds and three assists against Georgetown during his freshman season. He scored 15 against Michigan and tallied 10 points on 5-of-6 shooting against Gonzaga. He's scored a career high of 26 twice: against Central Connecticut and Fairleigh Dickinson. He had a 25-point game versus Yale.

Built like an NFL linebacker, Pettway was a true post player at Bryant, but he wants to expand his game during his redshirt season at Nevada.

OSU Flyer, I watched his youtube videos and you are right! He is built like a tank! He would be a great asset down low in the A-10!
