A10 Player Of The Week

Jordan Davis was named this week's A10 co-player of the week.

Well deserved, and hopefully not his last one this year.

Seems like Obi could have won both, not sure if they do that or not.

I wonder if a rookie can win player of the week or only rookie of the week?

Townie 02-05-2019 01:06 PM

A player can be put up for both awards but normally are not. They are nominated usually by the SID and the league office picks the winners. My guess was that Obi was a shoe in for rookie of the week so they went with that.

Obi was a shoe in for POW. Grady was the pick based on one great game. Obi has two great games.

Medford 02-05-2019 03:16 PM

So, what you're saying, is that if Obi had gone off for 40 in both games, collected 20 rebounds in both games, blocked 5 shots in each game, stolen 5 balls in each game and not allowed his man to score on him in either game, he could have been named POW but somebody else would have been ROW?

Yeah, that is a stupid. I have no idea what anyone else did, and I didn't actually see the Davidson - Richmond game, but I'll say nice Stat line Grady, but Obi had a better week of stats.

Next year it'll be PTOW. participation trophy of the week. Everybody will get one.

Townie 02-05-2019 04:18 PM

He could have been both and probably would have been. What I am saying is that the schools normally go for the sure thing.

Easy cop out for A10, and whoever votes. Another example of the POS conference it is. No one else had stats that sniffed what Obi put up. Rookie or not, give him both. Looking forward to the day when these other teams, coaches, ADs, etc. etc. don't get the thrill of playing in a real D-1 environment.

Townie 02-05-2019 05:57 PM

This is not unusual for all conferences. It is possible that UD only put him up for the rookie of the week.
