This was the most disappointing loss of the year
 

Coming off beating a solid Bonna team, against a poor team with 2 starters suspended, at home....with a chance at positive momentum, we c##p our pants. Once again, its going to be a long season:(

I didn't think they played with nearly the energy level that they had with Bonaventure. The Flyers did a much better job of stifling the passing lanes and controlling the dribble penetration against the Bonnies. With UMass, they seemed to have their way after the 15 minute mark of the first half. Trey was not as active; Darrell was in foul trouble; X was not boxing out or defending the dribble penetration at the hoop. They just had no answer for anything on the defensive side of the ball. Offensively, everything started and generally ended on the perimeter. You can't win many games doing what the Flyers did today on either side of the court.

A .500 finish is my hope/goal for this staff and group of players...:worried:

Which is an unacceptable record for any Dayton Mens basketball team.

I know we can't fire AG until 2020 or 2021 but this debacle is unacceptable

Meanwhile VCU has a new coach and keeps rolling.....

I knew you would be back with the same old garbage..disappointing loss..
that's all.. 16 games in and you want to fire AG before he gets HIS own recruits in.. grab some bench, udscott, you've certainly earned it::whiteflag:

Not advocating firing AG but can we dispense a bit with the "he needs his own recruits" bit. It gets tiresome. Keith Dambrot has Duquesne at 12 - 4. Pretty sure most of the players aren't his. Lots of coaches win with the previous coach's players. Some don't. It's always a bit of a crap shoot but to pretend that he can't is utterly ridiculous. You play with the players you have, not the ones you wish you had.

How's that theory working out for AM at Indiana?
Or Shaka Smart at Texas? who they already want to fire
Or Coach K his first year at Duke? check the record
Or Wojo at Marquette?

Not exactly. They are projected to finish at rpi #113. So, no NCAAT or NIT for VCU this year. VCU is stumbling this year.

What part of I'm not advocating firing AG did you not get?

Wojo made the NCAAT in year 3 at Marquette, and they might make it this year in year 4.

May just be my flawed memory but it seems to me that the Flyers perform poorly in afternoon games. Any stats on this over recent history?

Every loss is disappointing. Beside St Mary, Auburn and ODU the rest were not a given and resulted from poor play from our underclassmen, especially on the defensive end.

One guy could beat us, Pipkins, and we let him run wild. How about a little strategy!!!!!

He does not need all his own players!!
 

More than his own players, he needs a full year with the SAME players, whomever they are.
A years worth of lifting, absorbing the offense, maturing, gaining strength and confidence.
Newbie coach with newbie staff, with newbie players. One Duane Cohill with a full year of the incumbents would be a great start. A stronger, smarter Kostas. We have to learn how to finish close games with all the players. My favorite Flyer went brain dead by not passing to Josh on the low blocks. Won't happen with more experience.

Unfortunately there will be a season full of highs and lows. It's in our DNA right now.
