Senior Weekend

LaSalle come big in on Friday looking for an upset. I don’t think UD has ever lost to LaSalle?? They will be inspired after GMaspn upset VCU last week. And LaSalle’s good young female coach has done a great job recruiting and getting that program headed in the right direction. She deserves to be COY.

Of corse she has a tie to UD. She played at St Johns, graduated and had a year of eligibility left. It was announced she would play her last year at UD, but she got the LaSalle job, so she decided to enter the real world. And she has done very well. Will finish 3rd in A10 this year.

Sunday is Senior Day against Duquesne. Lauren, Margo and Kendyll will be honored before the 1 pm match. I’m pretty sure this is the first senior class with more than one p,Ayer that ALL THREE have earned first team A10 honors sometime during their careers. More importantly I think all three have pasted down contributions to the younger players. Kendyll’s signature attack is the quick low one-ball attack. We have seen Olivia, Amelia and Molly take that swing this year. Those 3 are different types of MBs and have added this shot to their games. Margo played DS behind Libero Krafka as a freshman and now she is helping freshman Maura Collins prepare to take over the colored jersey next year. Finally, Lauren is playing left OH this year at a level that’s never been seen at UD. She’s hitting around 330 from the left outside. 10 years ago no one was doing that. Recently there are only 5-6 true left OHs each year that can do that. Very rare air when you consider there are around 660 starting left OHs on D1 rosters every year. And the two people it’s helping the most are freshmen Allie and Mikaylah who get to watch it and learn from Lauren’s play everyday.

Because this team is so young, the greatest contribution of this year’s seniors is probably what they are passing down to the younger players everyday.

Kendyll broke the 300 block assist level in the last game, so I'm not sure if that is a milestone they will announce at the game on Friday or not.
