I'm looking into it. I ref later today and will run it past my partner(s).
FWIW, once the whistle blew play is supposed to stop. I wouldn't have allowed the FT and here's why: Had he missed, he could have easily argued that the whistle blew and distracted him so he should get another. And the refs would have no choice but to give it to him. But he made it which does not negate the fact that a whistle blew and the other 9 players relaxed. 'Inadvertent whistle' or not, 1st of 2 FTs or not, a dead ball is a dead ball. No shot.
Maybe college rules are different. I don't see how, but will allow for that possibility. Stay tuned.
