The good news:
* we won-- I think. The announcer tried to say we didn't.
* we basically won the game with last years team minus the seniors
* Josh removed all doubt in my mind--he's a 2
* we had 20 turnovers and still won
* we showed some resilience when CCSU went on the 9 point run
to go up 49-42---came right back at them and went ahead.
* 84% ft shooting may have saved the game
* 7/19 from 3pt was good
* killed them on the boards after the first 10 minutes
* scrappy, if not frantic, chasing loose balls
*Wright learned a good lesson--two quick fouls and you are sitting pal.
The bad news (sigh):
* maybe the worst interior defense we've had in years (I won't mention the "K" word)
* basketball IQ lower than I thought possible.
a) why does Josh P foul before the ball is inbounded?
b) why does our 90% foul shooter, Paul, give the ball up to a wing at the
end and let CJ dribble at warp speed and turn it over?
c) how does Josh P get isolated on their 5 and not get help?
* Staten may mean the difference between 20 wins and 13 wins
* 20 turnovers is bad, but get this: CCSU only had 3 steals---we turned it over often
without their pressure.
* CCSU forward had a career night shooting 10/14= 22 points.
When it's all said and done, we really showed amazing character to pull out a win. We could have folded in
the face of mistake after mistake.
