I agree it was a great dig. However the point was unreal for many reasons. Every Dayton players came up with a fantastic touch.

First Margo serves short/ soft which was probably called by a coach. tOSU handles the serve with a perfect pass. That set up their offensive play which was a back-set to their middle on a slide to the right. They had been killing us from the right all night long. Plus, we have NOT defended the slide well this year. And to be honest, our block was not set on this play. Alli got up, but Kendyll did not close the block from the middle. But Alli’s block was dead on so their middle went down the line with her shot and Margo was there for a great dig - meaning she got under the ball, but to be honest, her pass was kind of bad. It was probably scored a ONE - because it left the setter with only one hitter to go to. It was pretty close to the net, not very high and only about 3 feet inside the left side out of bounds line.

So Bridget has to run almost all the entire way across the net because she is set up about 5’ off the Rightside out of bounds line - the traditional setter spot for the second touch. She had to get there fast because the pass wasn’t very high. She has to avoid Kendyll who is trying to move off the net and transition into an approach to hit the ball if she gets the set. We have no backrow hitter. All 6 of our players are in a 2-10’ Square off the leftside pin. It’s very crowded and Bridget finds a way to get to the ball and set it without committing a double which the refs were calling all night.

Everyone in the place KNOWS our only option is to set freshman Alli - our leftside OH. Their block was SET but Alli found a way to beat it.

It was unreal. So many things could have gone wrong on this play, but everyone who touched the ball for UD handled a bad situation and together they won the point and the match and that started with Margo getting under the ball under difficult conditions.
