I still disagree with this. The one thing UD does a poor job of, IMO, is really honoring those past contributors to the program and even the great teams of the past. If you walk through the Arena, you find few mentions that the team played in the title game. There are no banners or jerseys hung. We've really just got the signs in the dark corners in the 300s, where NIT appearances are as "prominent" as NCAA appearances.
I think you can honor your past and great players without denigrating the accomplishments of a team. If we don't want to retire numbers that's fine, but there should be a better way of honoring those historic contributors besides just admission into the athletics HOF. You go to other schools and it is a cool experience to see the names of some of the best to ever play there honored. At Dayton, if you aren't already a fan, do you get any of that at the Arena?
