Bill Frieder, hc Michigan, #1 seed in 1985, left for Arizona State in 1989.

Also, BF's alma mater was Michigan.

This is a very similar situation in that regard.

This is a blow to Xavier's ego though IMO. An alumnus leaves a week or so after leading you to a #1 seed, that is a gut punch.
