I'll concede the "post up" decline, but there are lot of ways a good mobile big can contribute by scoring---tip ins, running the floor until his defender is gassed, short J, et al.
If he is good enough to move his feet on defense, he can do damage in the lane on offensive.
He should be agile enough to cause an imbalanced floor on occasion.
Problem is only the basketball elite have one of those.

A good big is still, and always will be, an asset. But since nobody has everything (except the 1982 Tarheels) you always have to work around some shortcoming. In our case, it's usually a "short"coming.
