I told someone the other day I think we're a year away from being a year away. Without Kiehl, we dont have what I would consider an consistent proven scorer on the roster that will scare our opponents. Our best attacking player in my opinion plays left fullback (and rightly so by necessity). With a defense that struggled to keep the goals down and less offense this year, we might miss the A10 Tourney unless a bunch of frosh step up and do things we havent seen from true frosh in the last 2-3 seasons. Johns returning from ACL is another question mark.

Golz needs time to recruit and get his players in the program. Knowledgeable fans probably recognize this. At every area of the field we have liabilities. We're experiencing what most other A10 programs experienced against us for two decades -- having to compete with lesser talent against more talented foes. The coaches can only gameplan so much until God given ability takes over.

I think I said last year that the MF play was the key. We struggled mightily with ball-winning and possession in 2017. I think that will remain the focal point for fans to keep an eye on. If you cannot command the central third, offense and defense will never be what you want it to be.

If I get bored I might go to the exhibition in Cincy.
