I';ve said it before and I'll say it again....as a lifelong Yankee fan...retiring numbers is silly. even if there are players who deserve it, at some point it becomes unteneble and completely contrived. I get it that babe ruth was great, but whether or not someone 100 years later wears number 3 has zero effect on how we remember him and his accomplishments. and no organization has the discipline anymore to keep it a rare and special thing. I love the likes of Ron Guidry and Bernie Williams as much as the anyone, but c'mon. it's just silly and shallow marketing.

There are concourses and sections of the arena everywhere to honor the great players and times for UD. do something nice there for folks to see.
