You say that now, but this is a scenario that typically plays out with people that are making a ton of money. If you were a multi-millionaire, and your son was a star basketball player who wanted to go to Dayton, but Dayton had no scholarships to give, then it would simply be a matter of whether you wanted to make a financial contribution that is within NCAA rules to directly help the basketball program gain an advantage. Heck, it might be worth the money at that point in that it saves you from having to closely follow a second program!
