I wanted to expound on this a bit more. I believe (could be wrong), that there have only been two teams left out of the modern version of the tournament with an RPI below 30. That would be the
Bonnies in 2016 and Missouri State in 2006. The Missouri State one is quite the anomaly, as there have been a handful of teams with an RPI of around 30 to be left out, but nothing quite so drastic as 21.
