Raise false hopes for who? For you? These kids have offers. And UD coaches are hoping they take these offers. So what the coaches are trying to do is help these kids envision what the college experience at the University of Dayton will be like for them. So they have the kids put on the uniforms (if they want to), and sure it's a photo opp that kids are gonna share on social media if they're feeling it, cause that's what kids do these days. And then in addition to putting on the uniforms, the coaches probably turn on a recording of the crowd noise in the arena. They sit with the kids in the locker rooms. They get them a campus tour so these kids can see where they will study, where they will eat on campus, etc. This all seems extremely normal. Not sure how or why it would strike anyone as remotely strange.
