Kyle Davis is far better than Matthews in terms of team achievement than E.C. Matthews. That is because he is probably the greatest defender in the history of UD Men's hoops. Check out Matthews vs. K. Davis in match-ups. Further, K.Davis has had several moments where he led the offense in clutch game-winning, momentum gaining situations with his drives and scores at the rim. I was in Puerto Rico where he was the reason UD stayed close enough to beat a very good Texas A&M team on a stick back by a former Flyer team mate. Raise your game as a fan and watch both ends of the floor.

Best of all time? Except last year when his teammate CC won best defender on the team.
Look, my post was to spark some conversation on how the staff weighs "getting a guy" versus "getting the top guy". If DM is the top guy, do they gamble on him or accept the verbal commit of a player that may be on campus before?
I'm not bashing KD. Never said he wasn't a great defender. Never said I'm upset we have him. I'm glad we have him. Sure he played great D against Dunn. Hit a game winner against Miami last year. Played great in PR. But who's to say if we had EC in 2014 we aren't in the final 4? Or beat Providence AND Oklahoma? Or beat A&M by 20 in PR? As another poster said, we don't know how things would've turned out had KD not committed; we may be better, may be worse. EC is a great defender with a 6'7 wingspan. It's a hypothetical argument at best so I'll leave it at that.
But you can't honestly tell me, 4 years ago had you known one is being discussed as an NBA lottery pick you wouldn't rather have him.
If we had a crystal ball and saw Darrly Morsell will be a top 15 NBA pick in 2021, and 'player b' is destined for Europe....today, who you takin'?
that's my point.
On an unrelated note, crazy to think that we were deep with Dillon Brooks at one point too. Can you imagine had we landed him?
