First - the story is he was cut his Sophomore year.

The Jordan story is larger than you give it credit for. No, they didn't outright cut him as a sophomore and send him home, but he did not make Varsity. For most sophomores - that's normal. MJ is not most players. By that same age Kobe was his teams leading scorer, LeBron was Mr. Basketball in Ohio, and Earvin Johnson had already earned the nickname Magic. Look up all the greats of the last 30 years - almost all of them made Varsity their sophomore year (if not earlier).

So while the rest of the greats were all playing (and excelling) on their Varsity teams as sophomores - the fact that The Greatest couldn't even get on the Varsity roster - is noteworthy.

And yes - Bogues couldn't dunk...
