WEST BLOOMFIELD (MI) -- I texted my fellow UD grad brother yesterday to remind him to catch the Flyers vs. Auburn on CBS Sports Net. Altho he is a UD hoops fan he is not nearly as rabid as I am. I told him “You have to see Kostas play.”

Yeah for all of 28 seconds.

The start of the game was a microcosm of the entire evening. Kostas easily won the opening tip and then this happened:

Instead of possibly jumping out to an early 3-0 lead, UD quickly found itself in an 11-2 hole, with Kostas grabbing some pine with 2 PF after less than 30 seconds of burn.

What happened next, I’m afraid is a microcosm of what we can expect for the remainder of the Flyers’ season. Darrell Davis led the Flyers back to an 11-11 tie by scoring 10 points. The Red and Blue then allowed Auburn to muscle and three point it’s way to an 11-point halftime lead on their way to a double-digit victory over the good guys.

And it only gets more challenging now, as UD hits the road to face yet another SEC opponent in Mississippi State in Starkville Sunday evening.

Better buckle up and put on your patient hats, kids.
