Lake Catholic is a pretty small school, I think it is maybe a little bigger than Holy Name, where Cohill went. I doubt if there are 900 students there. Wonder if this is a pattern for Grant as far as recruiting goes...

There is a picture of the three together on verbalcommits.com if you look up Lukas Frazier and check out Shane Phillips twitter account. Frazier looks to be the same height of Anthony Grant (maybe an inch shorter).

more interesting to me is that Dayton seems like his highest level offer to date. Not sure what he's looking for it but it would seem like UD is in a good position here

I got his height and position off a tweet on his Twitter page. I've now seen him listed as 6-3 PG as well as 6-5 G. So who knows exactly. Only thing I know about him outside of a little bball info is he ran the 100M race on a whim (assume it was just one meet) and won, so he must have some top speed, and that he also is a high-jumper, so assume he's got some hops and an overall good athlete. I would guess he's either a CG or SG though, and not a pure PG.

2020 All Ohio Red 4 star G/F 6'7" 175 lb. Donovan Johnson from Pittsburgh, PA's Moon high school has exploded this Spring and presently has 13 offers from P5 schools and high majors. Duquesne of the A-10 was the first to offer on 2/20/18 but, according to verbalcommits.com Pitt is the frontrunner. Xavier has also offered.
Johnson scored 31 pts. (8-10 3FG) in a win over Fusion at 2019 EYBL and went 9 for 11 on three pointers in another game! I think we should offer as well (nothing ventured is nothing gained)! If we are successful next season it is not unreasonable that some players that we may not have had a chance of getting in the past may just start taking an interest.
I like the fact that Anthony Grant and his staff are not shy about going after 4 and 5 star players which seemed to be the case in the past!

Illinois, Cincinnati and North Carolina are the latest to offer Donovan Johnson. He now has 16 offers and was recently honored as the 5A player of the year in the state of Pennsylvania.
Hopefully Zeb Jackson will recommit from Michigan now that Beilein has left for the Cavaliers job and consider Dayton. I believe he was one of the first recruits we offered for the class of 2020.

Georgia, Dayton prioritizing 2020 guard Hassan Diarra
Diarra, who ranks No. 99 in the 247Sports Composite Rankings, but No. 68 in the Top247, is seeing his recruitment expand.
“It’s picking up a little bit,” Diarra said. “Schools like Georgia, Texas Tech, VCU, Dayton, they’re all involved, so it’s going pretty well.”
Diarra told 247Sports that Georgia and Dayton have prioritized him the most. What sticks out about those two programs?
“They’re always talking to me, every other week, every other day, keeping in contact with me, I just like it,” he added about Dayton.
Although Diarra has yet to schedule any visits, he’s said he’s planning to begin schedule some soon.

Some of those 3's are from way out. The kid has some outstanding body control as well. Hopefully he follows in Scoochie's footsteps.

Worth noting that Archie recruited Hassan Diarra's brother, Mamadou, a big man who ended up at UCONN. Note: Uconn is not recruiting Hassan. Both the Diarra brothers played at Putnam Science Academy, the school that produced Scoochie.
If you want to read about Dayton's recruitment of Mamadou, you can do so here in this thread... posts 35 to 60 or so talk about Mamadou and a couple of other targets whose names you might recognize, Zavier Simpson and Ibi Watson, who chose Michigan (initially in Ibi's case):
http://www.udpride.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25912
What that is worth I don't know because it was a different coaching regime but you'd think there would at least be some familiarity with the school and Scoochie's success going from Putnam to Dayton is something that probably registers on some level. But again, players commit to coaches and not so much schools these days. So like I say, take it for what it's worth, if anything.
Additionally, here are a couple of nice articles about the Darra family:

Not sure if this is a factor but Georgia landed a 4 star PG Sahvir Wheeler (93rd overall) this spring after he decommitted from Texas A&M
The depth chart here could more open with Crutcher/Chatman being seniors when he was a freshman

He is similar to Baby D...but I love this kid's pull-up jumper. He handles the ball well, finishes well around the hoop, and has that sweet touch that Baby D had. It will only be a matter of time before the P-5 coaches catch on to him. Also, Murray State has had some real "steals" in recent years. Two stars...are you kidding me?

Just watched a part of the YouTube video. That is not a two star player.
Baby D? I didn’t see the signature head whiplash move...😄
I like that the kid is able to create his own shot. That is something UD hasn’t had a whole lot of over the years.

Rivals has him ranked as a 3 star player. You’re right, definitely not a two star talent.

Kam Farris is one of seven PG's offered by Dayton for 2020. After watching his you tube videos I agree he should be rated higher than 2 stars. According to verbalcommits.com Posh Alexander, Andre Curbelo and Jamal Mashburn Jr. are all rated 4 stars and Kam looks to me to have the skills equal to all three of them. It proves that sometimes skills are relative and one thing you can't measure is heart!

A key differentiator for Farris...how many point guards can shoot off the dribble with a stroke like that? Players like him can score anytime from anyplace! Love these kind of point guards!

And you have to remember exactly who is tossing these stars on these kids. There are people working for publications, camps, scout,rivals.com, etc. that have no more of a keen understanding of basketball than most people on this site.
Plus, they're labeling kids that are 16-17 years old. Alot of things, both good and bad, happen to kids over the next few years.......
Alot easier to work on a sill set in basketball than football where everything is predicated on size/speed....Yes, it's simple to see the stud 6'7-6'9 kid that is long, fast, and can sky and toss a 4-5 star on him but it's a real crap-shoot on smaller players and just how much they both want it, work ethic, growth development and game develop in those late HS and college years..

Stars mostly equate to offers from Big5 teams. If Farris gets a few quality offers, he will leap to four stars. I believe more in a kids offers than anything else. That being said I believe in Grant and his staff. Not signing anyone right now for 2019 says that Coach is not settling for lesser talent, like some of our previous coaches.

If I understand correctly, a 2 star rating is often given to a kid that hasn't been evaluated yet but are considered D1 athletes (ie they have D1 offers). A lot of times, the star ratings are determined by the quality and quantity of the offer. If a 2 star kid got an offer from Duke or Kentucky, they'd be a high 3 star rating tomorrow and people would actually evaluate them closer.

Zeb Jackson Sr., the father of top-100 2020 guard Zeb Jackson, tells @TheAthleticDET that his son is holding firm in his commitment to U-M, in light of the Howard reports. "As long as Coach Howard and his staff remain as excited about Zeb as Coach Beilein and his staff," he said.

Brown, Dayton, Virginia, Wake Forest & Xavier are the latest to offer Rivals150 @PSACardinals junior Jamal Mashburn Jr.
6'0" 4 Star Guard originally from Miami
|
When Rick Pitino was at Louisville, the younger Mashburn seemed destined to play for the Cardinals and the coach that oversaw his father’s college career. The Pitino and Mashburn families have remained close over the years, and Minnesota — where Rick’s son, Richard, is the head coach — was one of the schools the recruit listed prominently this week. Notre Dame, UConn, Dayton and Georgia were among the other non-Ivy League programs to get a mention from Mashburn Jr. during the interview sessions.

Hassan Diarra of Putnam Science Academy (CT) has seen his recruitment develop at a fast pace and it was helped even more with his strong week at the NBPA Top 100 Camp
Diarra is one of the most intriguing point guards prospects in the 2020 class due to his ability to defend at a high level and make plays for his teammates.
The 6-foot-2 guard has many notable offers in addition to Indiana, including Georgia, Dayton, Penn State and Wake Forest, all of which Diarra says are recruiting him the hardest.

2020 Top 100 Forward Keon Ambrose-Hylton (6'8") interviewed by 247 Sports
https://247sports.com/college/dayton...ida-133469159/
“The schools most involved right now are probably Illinois, Xavier, Florida and Dayton,” Ambrose-Hylton said, before discussing what he likes about each of them.
Illinois: “They’re a really good program. I talk to coach (Jamall) Walker almost every day. I really like their facilities.”
Xavier: “I took a visit there a couple months ago and it was really good. I saw them play a game, love the facilities and coaches.”
Dayton: “I’ve been to the school I think three times and I’m very used to those guys and their coaches. I have a good vibe with them.”
Florida: “We have a really good relationship. They were one of my first offers. I really like how they have Andrew (Nembhard) playing and how they develop their players.”
Ambrose-Hylton has an idea of what he wants in a program and when he will be making a decision.
“I’m just trying to find a school that wants me and will help me get to the next level,” he said. “I’ll probably make a decision sometime during the school season.”
Plays at Andrews Osborne Academy in Willoughby.
He literally might be our TOP overall target regardless of position in the 2020 Class

Question is, how long do you wait for him to commit. If you've got other guys ready to sign, I assume you're going to go with the bird in the hand vs two in the bush.

Oh no doubt for a dude like this, they would wait if they know they have a legit chance to land him... Kid is sensational
With Landers, Mikesell & probably Toppin on the way out after this upcoming season, he would be an instant starter for us.

I don't think he would start over Chase. I know he's a top priority, just saying there has to be a cutoff point in which you need a decision because everyone else you are also recruiting may be gone and then he picks somewhere else and you are left holding the bag. How much better is he that he's worth waiting until all your other targets at that position are gone or nearly gone.

Forward is more of a luxury than a need in this class in my opinion. Chase is still around for a while
If things don't work out with Ambrose-Hylton a transfer could be targeted in the spring. If Dayton has a good season & Obi takes off then there should be more doors open on the transfer market next spring

2020 point guard Jahari Long just verbally committed to Seton Hall, he tells 247Sports. Impressive facilitator and passer.
Seton Hall was considered the favorite for Posh Alexander, this probably takes them out of the running

Posh Alexander was the first recruit in the class of 2020 that Anthony Grant offered. I hope that carries some weight. Posh has some 20 you tube videos and is good friends with Kevin Durant. One time Durant showed up anannounced at Rucker Park in Manhattan, NY and dropped 66 points in a game. Posh is a legend for his point guard moves and tomahawk dunks in pickup games at Rucker Park!
Posh is not a showboat even though he plays with a lot of swaggar! I trust AG and if he likes him enough to offer a scholarship I am all in. I think he would look good in a Flyer uniform and with Seton Hall maybe out of the picture it will definitely help our chances.

I’m going to risk getting called out for posting incorrect information, but FWIW, a source very close to the program said that Posh was 95% sure that he will commit to U.D. The Seton Hall signing seems to be a good sign that my information is accurate. I’ll risk taking a lot of crap if I’m wrong.

Seton Hall head coach Kevin Willard and assistant Duane Woodward, Notre Dame coach Mike Brey and assistant Ryan Ayers, Virginia coach Tony Bennett, St. John’s assistant Van Macon, Illinois assistant Orlando Antigua and Dayton asssitant Ricardo Greer were among those on hand this weekend to watch Alexander and Our Saviour Lutheran at the Mid-Atlantic Independent Schools Shootout at Blair Academy.
Seton Hall's Kevin Willard sat courtside Saturday for @PoshAlexander and is definitely making him a priority

Although he is 3 inches shorter, Posh Alexander reminds me so much of Cassius Winston on Michigan State. Watch four important things about him:
1. He can penetrate the lane at will and finishes strongly around the hoop - lightening quick first step
2. Check the beautiful rotation on his jump shot
3. Great vision and creates opportunities for teammates
4. He has superb hops for a 5'10" point guard
Here is a video that will catch your attention:

The latest information lists him now at 5'11". Indeed he plays bigger than that. In fact his strength to the hoop is why he reminded me so much of Cassius Winston. Wouldn't it be nice to have a similar player here at the point for four years????

I’ve been holding on to this information for about three weeks. I wish I could tell you more about my source, but I was asked to keep my mouth shut. The recent Seton Hall PG commitment went a long way towards affirming Posh’s strong interest in U.D. I am going to feel really stupid and take a lot of Prider abuse if I’m wrong.

Per his Instagram account, Posh is releasing a final 5 list at 6 pm. If Dayton is not on it, I will hold Monster Man personally responsible.

Looking at St. John's message board it looks like current/former? Dayton targets Andre Curbelo and Hassan Diarra
Didn't see anything on the Illinois board about Posh. Seems like they're on a lot of big names nationally
Does this mean anything? Who knows but interesting none the less

Looks to have a bit of attitude which would be nice to have leading the team. Looks like he will play some D as well. Wearing #3 and is a bit reminiscent of another #3 with attitude at the 2:20 mark.

I have no idea if this kid is any good but I hope he signs with UD and Bucky sticks around long enough to try to pronounce his name.

RISING 2020 CHRISTIAN FUSSELL RECAPS APPALACHIAN STATE VISIT
As Fussell shares, Kerns’ vision for Fussell fits Christian’s game perfectly.
“He wants a big who can stretch the floor and play from the floor,” Fussell says of his conversations with Kerns. “They run the offense through the big a lot, pick-and-roll or pick-and-pop. They want a big that can bring the ball up the floor, a very versatile player. That’s how I saw that I can fit in their offense.
“I’m a versatile player. I can shoot it, I can put the ball on the floor. I’m also versatile defensively; can guard most positions, can rebound, I can block shots and alter shots at the rim.
“I always had a jump shot on me but as I got taller, I was able to use it more because I was able to shoot over people more. I feel I can shoot it from NBA range, I have confidence that I can pull it from that range and make it.”
Following Fussell’s trip to App State, his recruitment has literally exploded. In 13 days since his Mountaineer visit, which included a strong performance at the GHSA Team Camp in Atlanta, Fussell has received 16 new offers, including his first Power Five offers from Mississippi State and Georgia Tech.

They gotta be feeling pretty good about some of the guard options with the lack of activity on that front

Quick heads up, on Posh Alexander's instagram story, he says his commitment day is soon. So keep praying lol... Could be awesome for us, since he already officially visited us for the Duquesne game last season.

Write up from the STL board
Scouting Report: Fussell is a versatile big man who can stretch the floor with his shooting. He has range out past the perimeter, can face up and hit shots over defenders from the mid-range and high post, and can catch...

Per verbal commits.com Posh Alexander is “extremely likely” to commit to St. John’s very soon but we shall see. It’s never over till the fat lady sings!

Not sure if Dominiq Penn is still on the board but his dad just left Ohio State's staff for a job with the Memphis Grizzlies

No offer for Dominiq yet. It's looking like OSU or a mid major. If we are still interested (and offer) I think we'd have a decent shot. I'm pulling for Posh but would be as equally happy with a player like Dominiq
