Noticed one of those congratulating him is Capria Brown, the top 65 player who committed to Shauna Green and the Flyers a couple of weeks back. Scoochie threw out his congrats, too.

He gets to go "home" every other year to play Fordham. Loved those games in that Rose Hill high school gym with Scoochie's family.

He was listed as a combo guard on at least one of the sites. Is he really a combo guard or is he a SG that handles the ball well?

I love when kids commit to us before their senior season. Makes it a lot of fun to track them throughout the year.
Sounds like a good get. Go Flyers!

I certainly hope this is an awesome get....BUT.....are there some statistics to back this assessment up? Jablonski had the competition for him as UMass, Manhattan, Iona, and the like. Not an impressive list of interested programs. We've heard the enthusiastic fluff on so many recruits that turned out to be very average (if that) contributors. I will get more excited if he is a 4-star or top 150 prospect or shoots 60% from the floor and 45% from the arc. The clip shows him beating a single defender for a layup. Lots of guys can do that. Please, convince me this truly is an AWESOME get.

He was offered recently by Robert Morris and had a lot of attention from many schools who I believe thought he was going as a 2021 recruit !!

Virginia, UConn, Maryland, St. John's, LSU, etc, all were interested but they all expected him to re-classify to 2021. We got him into this class
No doubt in my mind he would have blown up next year and gone "bigger"
He did average 20 PPG 6 RPG in NY City Ball... He is still 16 and doesn't turn 17 until next month.

Given the projected roster depth next season, Koby's young age, talk of re-classifying, etc.......I wonder if Koby and AG discussed a possible redshirt next season? Give him a year to put on some muscle, learn the UD system, get acclimated to your new school, then hit the ground running in 2021. Yes I know not many kids redshirt for this reason anymore, but he may be a prime candidate based on what we know so far.

So Jabo just posted this, sounds like my question about redshirting has already been discussed between AG and Koby.

His redshirt year would like a prep year only better because he would be practicing everyday with the team. He is very young for his class and it would make a lot of sense. Looks like a lot of potential.

I kinda like this quote:
“I told him the best thing for you is college,” Mitchell said. “There’s no prep school in the country that can compare to Dayton.”
How sweet it is.

If he does redshirt, he will be the first scholarship player to be a non-injury redshirt since _____? This doesn't count any players like Obi that were partial qualifiers so didn't play their Fr year.
Off the top of my head, I can't think of who this would be. Keith W. was a walk-on during his redshirt year. I don't think there has been one since him. Who was one before him?

Policelli was going to be redshirted until the Matos injury forced AG’s hand. But no doubt it’s been a long while. I think Donoher had a few. Steve Lawrence, maybe?

Big Steve was a redshirt. I don't remember him being a partial qualifier or having a major injury. Memory may be off though.
We've had other cases, Trey should of been a redshirt but Archie burned a year with very limited minutes. AG did the same with Pierce.

AG did it with Pierce because he was wasting a scholarship and he wasn't going to have him go with 4 years of eligibility. Kid was a tool.... walking out of practice because he was having a temper tantrum.

I am drawing a blank on his name but, in Ollie's last year at UD, I am pretty sure that he had a kid that graduated from Centerville who redshirted. When Ollie moved on so did this kid.
Update: Here he is, Chris Spears

I feel like our guys know something we don’t.
This kind of over the top effort to welcome a recruit is uncommon. I love to see it! But it makes you think, is his family that cool or is he simply a really special talent?

Awesome and very necessary. In this age of slimy recruiting, it ain't over 'till it's over.
As most coaches would validate, until there is a signature, the buzzards will circle.

Understandable. There is little data on him. However, there was very little data on Obi when we nabbed him. So this is very much about trusting the coaching staff, and this staff has been pretty good at evaluating talent so far
