A very bad GW team is leading Fordham by 19 midway through the 2nd half. Tell me again why Fordham is playing D-1?

They won’t win a game. They have got to find another conference. They simply can’t compete here.

Fordham is a huge problem for the A-10. The A-10, I believe, figured when Fordham came on board, that Fordham would give the A-10 a NYC presence. Problem is they are an after thought in the NYC market. Living in North Jersey, part of the NYC TV market, I can attest to the fact that NYC TV stations don't even report their scores. TV men's basketball in NY is all about St. Johns, Seton Hall and UConn. In other words, Big East. Yes, Fordham plays in an "historic" gym, Rose Hill, but it is exactly, that historic! They have tried playing in Madison Square Garden, I remember going to a Fordham UD game there as part of a double header (St. Johns vs. UC the other game), and even the old Meadowlands (Brendon Byrne arena) in the not too distant past. Problem is they don't draw! Living in North Jersey I have attended a number of Fordham - UD games. I can say without reservation that UD fans far outnumbered the Fordham fans. All this being said it makes no sense for Fordham to build a new on campus "arena." I don't think there is room on campus for such a building to be built anyway. Let me say that the campus is beautiful! The granite buildings remind me of West Point. Just don't go off campus to the west! Yet not far from campus is Arthur Ave. and the absolutely wonderful Italian restaurants. Many think the restaurants there to be better than in Little Italy in Manhattan. To the south and east are the NY Botanical Gardens and the Bronx Zoo. But the bottom line they bring absolutely nothing to the A-10. Fordham is literally caught in an unbearable situation. They can't play games off campus, like St. Johns and Seton Hall, because they don't draw fans, and playing on campus (Rose Hill) is an embarrassment. Digger Phelps would be embarrassed! All this being said, while they have made some "effort" to improve their lot in the last 15 years, it has not been enough. They belong in the Patriot League, and that is not to disparage that league. Fordham does have superior academics, but they are not in any way, shape, or form a program that belongs in the A-10. This also puts the A-10 in a problem situation. How does the A-10 address this problem? I don't have the answer. But if you draw 2-3 thousand fans, and I'm being generous, it is a problem for the league. WE can wait until Hell freezes over for Fordham to be relevant.

Duquesne is up 71-62 late in the game at GW! Duquesne (1-1) hasn't played since Dec. 2nd. A quirk in the schedule has them playing GW again tomorrow at 2:00PM at the same location! With all their transfers in the off season they have 8 freshman on the roster.
Interesting note that some of us Flyer Fans will find amusing was that Keith Dambrot looked like he was wearing those same tan pants that he wore last season in both games we played against them!

In the past two days our SEC victories look better.
I just think this year is just going to be weird year. UK barely beats Vandy at home to avoid their 7th loss. I know the season has not started the way any flyer fan would like. I’m going to look for improvement from our young players and accept this year for what it is...a Covid clusterf*#k.

Unfortunately like in math a +2 added to a -2 = ZERO
Two good SEC wins and Two awful A-10 losses ...

Presently watching Colorado and #17 Oregon. Can't help but to root for one McKinley Wright! He presently has 19 points and 10 rebounds, his 12th double double. Colorado is up 7 with 2:17 remaining. Oregon is using a full court press!

Indiana loses to Wisconsin in double overtime. Indiana should have won it at the end of the first overtime with 7.7 seconds and a timeout. They didn't get a shot off as there was a jump ball. Indiana hadn't won at Wisconsin since 1998! D'Mitrik Trice, a senior from Huber Heights, hit some clutch shots down the stretch for the Badgers. Archie still does not like to lose. With about 16 seconds remaining he called off the dogs and signaled his players not to foul then proceded to turn around and kick his chair over backwards.
I still like Archie because, in his own words after the Stanford game, he said the elite eight run that the Flyers made in 2014 "rejuvenated the fan base and the Flyer fans deserved that." I know when my son and I went to Memphis and participated in all the excitement on Beale St. it was one of the best times I ever had! Flyer fans took over Beale St.

I was listening to the pregame for the Cincinnati game, last night. UC's coach talked of the difficulty of bonding the team during these times. He, and his coaches devised a ruse whereby the players thought they were going in for a walk through, but ended up in a 6 inning coaches vs. players wiffle ball game. They came out and beat SMU on the road the very next game.
Last year, we've heard, the team went out to movies and other things together. Obviously, that is not possible this year. Perhaps they need a wiffle ball game, or other team building exercise to get going this year.

WVU just blew it against Texas. WVU up 1 and gets an offensive rebound with about 10s left. Instead of pulling it back out the big gets fouled trying to score. Misses both. Texas makes a 3 with 1s left for the win. Huggie bear cannot be happy.

What's happened to Cincinnati. Was Mick Cronin really that good, or did they simply lose so much talent that a reset was unavoidable. Cronin never had a reset though.

Their 3pt shooting this year:
GW = 2-14
LAS = 4-27
DAY = 9-18
DUQ = 2-22
They havent shot better than .148 from behind the arc against any other opponent not named Dayton. They made more threes vs UD than all of their other opponents combined. And for good measure, UD shot 4-23 against the Rams. That's how you lose to a terrible opponent.

Think it was our reliance on 3’s against what should have been an inferior opponent- but with their big guy in desperate foul trouble almost from the outset we decided to take 23 of 43 shots from 3 - and convert 17%. That’s just bad, bad coaching.

Flyer opponent
Ole Miss had a 5 point lead over Florida late in the game, but Florida closed out with 14 unanswered points.
Ole Miss (6-5) 63 @ Florida (6-3) 72

Duke does not have a win inside the top 100 of the NET. They themselves are barely inside the top 100 (96 as of this morning). If the tournament started tomorrow they wouldn't even sniff an at-large bid. Yet, they are ranked. Truly comedic stuff folks.

Good. I have about as much respect for Archie as I do for Kostas.
The IU chat rooms are exploding. The next 6 games will define his future...none will be easy.

Boilers have won 8 in a row. Don't think AM has beaten them, but could be wrong on that. Hard to see Archie at IU long term.

After losing their first three games Cleveland State has won 9 straight, and may be the favorite in that league.

CSU lost to Toledo, Ohio U and tOSU. In the OU game, a 100+ to 40ish loss, OU went on an NCAA record 40-0 scoring run.

Upsets
A lot of upsets last night:
Providence (7-7) 74 @ #11 Creighton (10-4) 70
#20 Clemson (9-3) 65 @ Georgia Tech (7-3) 83
Bradley (9-5) 56 @ Illinois State (5-8) 71
Furman (10-4) 73 @ VMI (8-7) 74
Colorado (11-4) 80 @ Washington (2-11) 84
And St Joe's almost pulled one off:
Saint Joe's (1-11) 85 @ George Mason (7-6) 87 (2OT)
St Joe's will win a game one of these days - hopefully against Fordham, not Dayton.

Indiana down 6 at the half and down 8 with 12 minutes to go. Win by 12.
That was a tough one to watch for me. Didn't want to see either team win.

What happened to Luka? Thought he could beat IU by himself with one arm and one leg tied together behind his back.

St Joe's will win a game one of these days - hopefully against Fordham, not Dayton.

A couple of smart@$$ remarks:
1) Looks like Providence is gaining steam.
2) That Colorado/Washington outcome is a shocker, in what would have been a battle between ex-Flyer commits (if Naz Carter hadn’t done what he’d done).

The pitchforks in Bloomington are able to go back to the barn until the next IU loss.

Garza didn't have one of his better games, certainly not after the first ~10 minutes of the game, and particularly in the 2nd half.
He had several turnovers down the stretch where he either didn't see the double team coming or didn't adjust to it well. And he didn't shoot the ball all that well either, getting forced into some tough shots by some really good, physical defense by IU.
Make no mistake, setting aside any disdain Flyers fans might have towards the Iowa fan base, Luka is the best player in the country this year, an absolute beast of a player, an impossible matchup and a virtual lock for most every significant Player of the Year Award(s).

Yes, I have nothing against Luka, a very good player. Meant more as a jab at Iowa, who thinks he walks on water.

He may not walk on water, but I heard from some one in Des Moines that he has holes in his hands and feet.

I see that Dayton is a 4 point underdog in this game with Virginia Commonwealth in Richmond Virginia, today.

Teams that looked great against cupcakes
Some teams entered conference play undefeated, but then it all came crashing down.
Georgia was 7-0, but they're now 9-6 after losing to four-win South Carolina.
Washington State was a sparkling 8-0, now they're a 9-7 afterthought.
And Michigan State! 6-0 until Covid and an (admittedly) tough Big Ten took them down . . . 8-5 after their brutal loss to Rutgers tonight! 37 points!
