Multiple reports that Maui Invitational 2023 is moving to the University of Hawaii on Oahu.

https://bleacherreport.com/articles/...wing-wildfires

The Diamond Head Classic is played at the same facility in December.

Will be interesting to see when it will be able to move back to Maui.

We are thinking of going to Hawaii for the tourney next Nov. Three questions:

Is the alternate site, if used next year, drivable from Honolulu?

From what I could find, tickets can be bought to each day for $150-325. Are those available on game day, and is there anything cheaper?

Any suggestions for reasonably priced hotels?

If they have it at the University of Hawaii, it is definitely driveable from Honolulu. Prerry sure not walkable though, too long of a walk from like Waikiki, if that is where you are staying.

From Waikiki to the University of Hawaii is about a 2.5 mile walk(55 minutes)according to Google Maps. We drove over to the university from Waikiki, it wasn't that far of a drive.

It will be interesting to see where ticket prices go for 2024.
Lahaina Civic Center seated 2,400. Stan Sheriff Center at UH Manoa seats 11,300.
There were a lot of empty seats for every game that I watched.
At 2,400, they could jack the prices and in the 2023 case, those tickets were already sold prior to the fires, so they had to hold prices to avoid conflicts.
At 11,300, I don't know if they can get $609 for booster reserved seats.
As of now, ticket prices are determining factor for MrFF and MrsFF. We're not big fans of Oahu compared to Maui and $1218 seems like a lot of cash to drop for 2 people to see 6 games in an 11k+ seat arena. Watching games in the cozy confines of Lahaina Civic Center was a special experience.

From Waikiki, we have walked to St. Patrick's Catholic Church. It's similar in distance (depending on location in Waikiki). It's up hill, but not bad for the reasonably fit. Chaminade University is also a similar walking distance.

It's been a few years since we've stayed on Oahu, so I'm no help for a hotel. We did stay in a nice B&B in Kailua on the North Shore.
