Where is the best place to purchase tickets? Through the university or outside sources?

If you get them thru UD you will be sitting with the UD crowd. You can go to daytonflyers.com.

Does anybody have experience getting them through the university? Do most people who apply get them, or is it pretty tough?

I think each team gets 1500 tickets to sell. So it Depends on how many requests they receive.

One option is going to NCAA.com, click on Men's Basketball Championship. You'll see a link to tickets and all locations, all rounds will pop up. You can navigate from there to the Buffalo 2nd/3rd rounds. It's through the NCAA ticket exchange. Tickets for Flyers' session only (2 games) start at $107. All session tickets start around $255.

Plenty of tickets also available on Stubhub.com starting at around $85-$90. I'm waiting for my son to call to see if he can get off work so I can pick up a pair of tix and then off we go early Thursday morning for the four hr drive from Pgh to Buffalo.

University tickets will likely be tough unless you are a donor. It's based on contribution level. In the past, we were able to get tickets for Spokane (03) and Minneapolis (09). Not for Buffalo (04). Location, location, location. Buffalo is too easy to drive from Dayton.
The latest word I'm hearing is that some people who have applied for UD tickets may not find out their fate until noon tomorrow.

In 04, we were 1 row from the top in one of those sections. Would have been better in the last row so we could stand and lean against the wall.

I figure I can find an open seat somewhere else. If not, oh well.

If you're are fortunate enough to get tickets thru the school you will get much better seats. My seats in Minneapolis and Buffalo in 04 were in the middle of the lower arena. You do have to be a season ticket holder and major seat license contributor.

Well if anybody can get 4 through UD and only wants 2, they would have a vocal home with me. Otherwise I will cross my fingers and hope for the best tomorrow.

Tickets through UD

I ordered this morning right at 10:00 as directed by the ticket office. So, the word is, that those seeking tickets via UD might not know until tomorrow? Anyone have any additional information about this way of getting tickets

Basically, the ticket office has started calling people who submitted applications. Generally, some people will apply, but then not be able to make the games. They will work their way down the list by priority until all the tickets are gone. I'm not sure how late they call, but I remember it being fairly late in the evening (8pm or 9pm) when we got the call for the Minneapolis tickets back in 09. If your phone rings, answer it immediately.

There is more info at DaytonFlyers.com, however, they did release more info stating that if you submitted your request by the 10am deadline, you will be notified by noon Tuesday if you made the cut for tickets.

While ticket requests could still be submitted after 10am, they suggested that those people look for alternative ways to purchase tickets.

We lucked out being in the same session as Syracuse...resale value of session 1 is north of $110. I'm up high in 312, but would love to ditch the tickets if I can get some down low via UD....Other option is sitting in Syracuse's section, since their fans will likely show up late.

They are calling now. Make sure you answer your phone. The number on the caller-ID might not indicate that it's UD so answer your phone.

I was planning on driving to Buffalo from Northern Virginia, but the ticket situation doesn't look good as far as bang for the buck. StubHub is gouging right now. Any opinion on me rolling the dice and driving seven hours with the hope that I can pick up a scalped ticket at a better price?

Just a note, we are in the same session as Syracuse on Thursday, so decent tickets are a bit hard to come by and they are at a premium. Most of the ticket broker sites have about the same selection and it is not huge.

And MDFlyer, I thought about that, but with it being the first game and Syracuse included, I didn't want to take that risk. I bought mine (yes, at a premium) and I will be there on Thursday (and Saturday)!

Are those full session tickets transferable? Maybe I can go to their board and find someone that doesn't care about the 12:15 game.

only the individual sessions are transferrable. there are tix for each of three sessions (2 games each), thursday afternoon, thursday evening and Saturday. St Joes fans will have a much easier time finding single session tickets because they play in the second session.

Thumbs up full session tickets

Full session tickets are generally 3 tickets. One for each session. Easily transferable.

As Syracuse was piling up wins, I'm guessing Orange fans were buying up Buffalo tickets in anticipation. SJU fans should have it pretty good for the 2nd session. Those tickets seem to still be fairly reasonable and Syracuse fans who bought all session may be looking to dump those evening tickets. They may get really cheap after Western Michigan pulls the upset.

I actually ended up with 2 sets of tickets between a friend and I, so I'm looking to sell my 2 in 322 in the UD section. Looking for $150 each. PM me if there's interest and we can figure out when to meet up in Buffalo.
