a sleeper emerges--
Averaging 18 minutes. Shooting 73%, 57% from 3pt., 3/4 ft's, 5 steals.
Very intense on defense and takes pride in it.
Jordan Davis looks to have a great upside.

With all the issues, it shouldn't take him long to be starting. Next game hopefully.

I agree. He has been a pleasant surprise. He is a better three-ball shooter than Trey. But I like Trey; he can finish around the bucket.

Who are the starters Game 20 this season? Baby D, Josh, Kostas, Jordan, Crutch?

I figured a kid who could shoot great in high school, and was player of the state his junior and senior year was going to be our best incoming freshman, other than the kid who went west. The kid is great, not only his offense, but on defense. That steal and score at the end of yesterday's game was reminiscent of another Davis.

I missed yesterday's game but was pretty impressed with how he played against OU. My question to you Jack, someone who's seen Johnny Davis, Jim Paxson, Jack Zimmerman and Roosevelt Chapman all play their freshman season, can you see any reason why Jordan Davis is not in our starting lineup from here on out?

Jordan's best game was yesterday. He plays some good defense and has a good body to take the picks and bumps, but yet is very quick. He is tied for the team lead in steals with 5.
He should be a starter, however, Grant seems to have his favorites. Why does he play Williams so much over Kostas? Why does Crutcher play more minutes than Crosby or Jordan? So will Coach put Trey right back in as a starter and bench Jordan?
I think Jordan could also play the point.
I am not big on who starts, but rather how many minutes they play. He needs to get over 30 minutes at this point.

I kind of understand the Kostas thing. XW is not a good replacement for Josh if he gets in foul trouble while Kostas is or at least better. You don't want them out on the floor together too much because you don't want them both getting in foul trouble together. Same thing I said when we had Kendall and Josh last season.

By the way, the kid that went out west is doing quite nicely averaging 15 pts a game, 2:1 assist to turnover ratio, and playing over 30 minutes per game.

Agree. I am willing to bet those lineups change...if they do it may light a fire under the asses of the older guys.

Depending on what AG sees in practice this week, I wouldn't mind seeing X sit and come off the bench at the under 16 time out.

X will still be starting game 20. We saw a lot of good things from him last year. He's in a slump - he'll be fine.

Said the same after Ball State. This kid looks the part, smooth shot. Really looked to be hustling on D against OD, still got beat a few times, but looks like he is learning quickly.

Big Jordan Davis fan. I think he needs more minutes.
I don't get the Crutcher and Crosby dual point guard lineup with Jordan on the bench. He can score, and needs to get more opportunities.

In may not look like it, but we are learning.
When the whole team on the floor at any one given time is not confident in the offensive scheme, or flow, very few players are going to play to their entitlement. We are still learning the offensive approach (whatever in the heck it is).
We have a LOT of individual talent that has not jelled yet. It may take 10 or 15 games to sink in. The reason our guards are passing the ball around the perimeter and then chucking a 3pt shot is they are confused. Just like we are confused watching it.
I don't think DD is confused, but he is feeling the pressure to do something as the game slips away. At some point Anthony has to get the young ones to play uninhibited. And that doesn't mean Crutcher imitating Marques Haynes or Curly Neal in the back court and turning it over.
What we are missing which makes the game easier are run-outs to the other end. Rebound and make the first pass cover some ground. We need some open court easy baskets and it sure appears we have the thoroughbreds to make it happen. It would be nice to see Josh hitting a guard at half court with an outlet pass.

I thought our full court press looked decent for being at the end of three games in four days. Don't remember any steals other than the one by Jordan, and that was a beauty. I would thing Kostas playing back as the free safety would work really well.

Jordan "silk" Davis
One last shout out for Jordan Davis because we are going to expect that excellence going forward.
Honestly, Brian Roberts is the last Freshman I recall that had the smooth stroke and varied shot portfolio that Jordan displayed last night. Not to mention the court savvy.

Jordan and Crutch are going to be a problem for A10 guards for the next 4 years and that's a beautiful thing for flyer fans. These two make me excited for the years to come.

if everyone stays at their current pct, Jordan has now made the national top 20 in 3 pt pct, and is certainly within the top 10 with 1 or 2 more good shooting nights... his current rank would be 18th, if everyone stays where they are at....)

THIS. Looks calm and poised out there.
Responding to an above (much) earlier post. No reason Trey doens't start and Jordan relieve and split 20 minutes each a game. Or Vice versa. They both bring different skill sets.

One thing I l have observed in Jordan Davis is the fact that this kid is fearless. He has ice in his veins. He has a quick release and last night on two occasions exhibited the ability to shoot the ball off the dribble. Crutcher and Davis will be exciting to watch the next four years...two southern kids who saw an opportunity here in the Midwest!!!

I usually agree with Jack72, but please dectrease 5-20 foot jumpers. Lay-ups/dunks and 20-23 foot 3s are best shots in college basketball. Some NBA stuff in the article below, but some very interesting college analysis as well.
