Golden Trump - St.Louis
The winner of today's Golden Trump Award should be easy...but to appease those who always vote for the underdog, I'll throw in a couple others.
Help make King Rollo Great Again by voting!
Go Flyers!
King Rollo...OUT!

Easy? So you saying everyone should vote for the guy who scored the most, or the guy who dished out the most assists and grabbed the most rebounds?

Landers didn't do any of those things...

Been a vocal critic of Charles, but today he was an excellent teammate. I clearly remember at least 3 of his assists (to 3 different teammates, no less), and they were "right time/right place/right person". Consider it an "apology vote" if you want, but I went for the Cookie Monster today.

Cooke was very good, but Scoochie seemed to break their spirit with every 3 point. SLU would play hard on defense and then get a dagger from Scooch.

I thought the obvious choice was Landers. We were in real danger of winning by less than 20 with less than 2 minutes left. Landers great reverse layup and one plus break away layup was clutch.

Why do I have a feeling that even next year Kendall will still be listed as an option to vote for.

UDx2 Jablonski's recap on my DDN phone app names the Play of the Game:
Joey Gruden recorded his first career assist in in the final seconds, leading Trey Landers for a layup.
The crowd went wild as they always do when bench warmers do a good thing. I think Trey needs more playing time, too, especially in blowouts.

Charles takes quite a bit of heat on this board for not passing. The 6 assists shows he is trying hard to prove us wrong. I voted for him.

Cooke....6 assists and shot the ball within the offense. That's bigger than just about anything right now....even with Scoochie's great performance and senior nads.

I would not give the nod to anyone yesterday, primarily the latter half of the second half. The entire offense was pretty much either take a three or turn it over.
Part of the Golden whatevers means staying focused, even with a large lead. Easier said then done, but that 10 minute stretch from about the 11 minute to 1 minute mark was ugly basketball.

Scoochie just because being down 10-4, he decided he'd had enough and popped in 3 3's in a row, or something to that effect. UD never trailed following that. Cooke was a close second as he played within the team game and Landers a sentimental favorite for scoring some late points. Maybe Gruden should have been an option

I understand the angst over our loose play in the last 11 minutes. But a young St Louis team (one Senior who immediately got in foul trouble) just had a horrible day on the court. They are simply bad on a good day.
When we effortlessly doubled the score at the 11 minute mark the only remaining interest on our part was whether we would cover the spread, which we did not. Those Flyer fans have a right to miffed. Anyone else, meh. I left the theater at that point and based my Scoochie selection on who it was that got us the 28 point lead.

I apologize for not remembering word for word what Archie said post game, but lets just say he was not too happy with the offensive effort. Does not matter in his mind, or mine, what the score is or who you are playing, you run the offense correctly and execute what you have been taught on every possession for 40 minutes.
I can not stand it when we play down to our competition. Should have been a 20+ point game at halftime and a heck of a lot more than that when the final buzzer sounded.

As Shocka said, Cooke played within the offense. Guess who had the assist on Scoochie's first two 3 pointers? Cooke of course, who gets my vote for playing the team game many of us complained he had not been doing.

There are precious few programs that would double the score on a team by the 4th quarter and not let down a bit. They are still kids at heart on the court. And why didn't Arch use his time outs and correct those that were playing out of the system? I forget who it was in that ugly under 11 stretch that came down the court and threw up a brick. The announcer said that Arch rolled his eyes in dismay. He could have called a timeout and yanked him and made a point to the rest on the floor. Some of the starters were still on the floor as I watched the replay. Why risk them? They were playing as ugly as the non-starters. Sh*t happens when you've doubled the score. Plus we have to play these guys again in SL. There is no prize for beating them by 50.

I kept saying the same thing. Why was CC & KP in the game as long as they were, with both still nursing injuries. Why did Scoochie not go out before the 1.30 mark or so?
But even with non starters in the game, you still have to execute and run your offense. I saw more than one eye roll from Archie in the second half.

I don't know, last year we came within one point of doubling the score against them at home. Then we went on the road against them and that team that were high schoolers compared to us took us to OT. I worry that this will carry over to the game in SL. I'm afraid that they will again go into that game thinking all they have to do is show up and start play against them like they finished this game. That's why I hate seeing our team let up, because we've seen over and over again our teams do this at the start of games that they believe they will roll over an opponent.
