Looking forward to the Red & Blue game. Such a great event that isn't appreciated as much as I believe it should be. It's fun to give the new kids a taste of how the Arena will feel come November.

Pierre and his 20" pythons...too bad Robinson hasn't dedicated himself to the weight room, too. At 6'9" and 250 lbs, with a 300 lb bench press and 150 lb curls, he'd be a beast.

He has such great footwork and hands, there's no reason he can't play in the NBA someday. Many people that big lack body control. He lacks vertical leaping ability but he's got a frame you could hang a lot more muscle on, and that will also get it done in the NBA. Every team needs an enforcer that can rebound and play defense--he has the body for it, I hope he follows through on both.

Saw Detwon on campus, he seems to be every bit the solid 220 they credit him for on the website. Look forward to seeing Pollard's progression. Sibert and Pierre combo will be pretty hard to beat.

I can't limit to one player, I'm excited to see the entire team.
Can Scoochie continue his playground moves but in better context of the game and with less turnovers? Will his D and outside shooting improve?
Kyle's defense is awesome, has his offense developed any?
As the Senior, will Jordan up his vocal leadership, and his aggressiveness on the court?
Will Darrell Davis be able to handle the physicality of college ball at 155 pounds?
Has Kendall developed any shot beyond 9 feet to go with his freak athleticism that makes him such an exciting player?
With the new cannons, has Dyshawn become an unstoppable beast?
Is Detwon the real deal?
Will Charles Cooke be the best player at the Red and Blue game (sorry, couldn't resist the running gag)?
Has Jalen developed some strength and consistency to go with his game? Rollo, based on your comment, have you actually seen him and he still looks weak, or was that conjecture that he simply hasn't developed further?
Will Devon Scott learn to control his emotions and learn to play with some consistency?
Will Big Steve be ready to contribute, or is he a raw recruit to be molded for the future?
Obviously I hope the answer to every question is yes, they have improved if returning and are ready to contribute if new.
the biggest question, to me at least, is who is ready to take DMo's role? Not his role as a player, but his role as a leader? Really hoping Sibert steps up in this role as THE Senior.

...'guns', of course...but that term just shows your age, SDF.
Us young guys call them 'bicepticles'....which may intimidate security, but won't keep you out of anywhere that has hot chicks.

Thanks Sparky.
I just think this season may be a bit unpredictable, but we have a stable of basketball studs to work with. Should be fun, CraSch's legitimate concerns notwithstanding. Those are all things Arch gets to develop. Good luck Coach. We are all rooting for the staff to stir the magic sauce.

Agree, unpredictable...4 and 5 are big concerns...but Archie and the players have proven they know how to get the job done...Detwon could be a big addition...DD also is highly touted...we'll see.

I'm looking forward to seeing the progress Jalen and Scoochie make. They both have a great deal of potential. If Jalen can hit that "3" consistently and add that to his back to the basket game, look out. This is assuming he plays the "4". I don't like him at the "5".

1. Pierre: He's my current favorite Flyer. He's hit the gym and avoided any sort of sophomore slump. He has a Chapman-esque ability to bend and contort his body to get off his shot. He reminds me of a kid that grew up playing on an asphalt court with his buddies. Stud.
2. Scoochie: I think he's going to be a monster pg before his career is over. He picked it up during the season last year, and I expect him to deliver with a spectacular season.
T3. Big Steve: If he can stay on the court (assuming that any potential problems are resolved), he can be a beast. I'm anxious to see his size on the court.
T3. Pollard: Talk about a guy who improved during the season. I think it speaks volumes that he was in the game against OSU in the final minute. He may have looked out of control at times, but the kid has a ton of energy and athleticism. He showed some improved offensive skills as the season progressed as well. I just think the game slowed wayyyy down for him by the end of the year. I expect him to come out with better vision and control from the beginning this year. I really like how he can disrupt the other team's game. He should be a lot of fun this year.
This doesn't mean that I'm not excited to see some of the other Flyers play. On paper, I find this team very interesting with a great deal of potential. Sibert can go crazy from 3. KD is a crazy good defender. The rate that the new guys learn to play in AM's system with the upper classman will likely determine how far the Flyers go this year. They'll need something out of the new guys on a regular basis. If we can get at least 1 giving us something each game, the Flyers could be in for a great run!

I'm going with the new guys.
First, Detwon. Lotsa upside here. LET"s see how he melds into Archie's system.
Second DD. Think he's gonna a very good one. Trying to think who to cautiously compare him to. Hmmm. How about some Anthony Grant with more scoring (by his junior and sr year , that is).
Potential Brian Roberts ability? Hard to say. Put up some good numbers in tough Detroit leagues.

Second tier hopes.
First, I'm not concerned about Dyshawn P and Sibert. ( I do also hope Sibert becomes more of a vocal guy and leader - someone always needs to fill that role on great teams). I also think Scoochie's progression continues on course, and that he begins to both play within himself (fewer silly mistakes with the ball) but also creates and finds other guys.
So I'm gonna say I hope Robinson brings us what he gave us nice stretches of his frosh year. And Pollard. Kids has tons o' heart and crazy athleticism. This is gonna be exciting end to end this year - beginning of season til the final basket!

They aren't players but old faces I look forward to seeing this season are Brian Gregory's when he rolls into the arena. We can count on him to be extremely classy in defeat. And when the tournament rolls around, I look forward to seeing old fatty face Charles Barkley again hopefully. I enjoyed hearing his turribly moronic opinions as UD marched on to the Elite Eight. I'd like to do that again with some new faces leading the way.

So, funny story. Yesterday I walked past a visibly hurting (not injured) Darrell Davis holding ice on his shooting hand. I immediately felt my heart drop, until I turned around and saw him proceed to pop and lock with Charles Cooke in the street. I couldn't hear if they had music playing our if this was the new True Team greeting, but it was pretty funny and they seemed to be having a good time.
Always nice to see these kids getting along so well. It really does translate to the court.
EDIT: BTW, Darrell Davis is a lot taller than I imagined.

We could have a 6'5 point guard and 6'6 or 6'7 shooting guard on the floor next year with DDavis and Cooke/Mikesell. Then add a 6'8 SF in Williams.
I saw Davis measured 6'41/4 or something so I'm sure he will be listed at 6'5 by next year.

That is some serious body fat number for Scooch. NFL defensive back and running back territory.
The way he can go to the basket, that strength will be awesome, not to mention on defense.

Territory being the operative word. DBs and RBs are closer to the low 200s and around 5'10-6'2. Obviously there are some exceptions to that rule though.

I think I am most interested to see if Sibert can step up and be a consistent top performer. He had several games where he contributed little on offense, or defense. Will he be a leader? Will he take the ball and score or dish at most crunch times? Will he play defense every play? Will he be First Team A10 and even POY?

Pierre's added bulk should frighten every A10 coach. He could be disgusting this year. He is so much fun to watch. Now, he has the added bulk to bang around in the paint as well. He already has the ability to lean in and shoot away from the defender. With his new thickness, he'll be even more effective. Can't wait to see him play.
I hope that 5% body fat for Scoochie doesn't lead to durability issues or cramping issues. What is the ideal body fat content for a basketball player?

A quick Google search suggests around 10.5% with a +/- of 3.8%. Pierre seems ideal at around 9%. Scoochie at 5% seems a bit low. Obviously, his age is a factor though. Kobe is around 8-10%, but he's older. We'll need minutes out of Scoochie, and I hope that his 5% body fat doesn't have a negative impact.

I totally agree, but the interesting thing is that Dyshawn thinks Detwon is the super athlete. wow.
