Which Flyer Leads the A-10 in

three categories in Conference play as of 2/2/17? Kyle Davis who leads in field goal percentage; 3 point field goal percentage and assist to turnover ratio. Not bad for a defensive All-American!

IMO he's the best player on the court for the Flyers. He rarely if ever has a bad game. He's the most consistent player and also the most unselfish. When it comes to players that put winning ahead of their own personal accomplishments, he's the prototype. Scooch comes in not far behind in that aspect.

Kyle Davis will go down as one of my all-time favorite Flyers and like Pierre, will be one that you can't point to any statistic that stands out, but should slide into the UD hall of fame when all is said and done, safe by a mile. Will he? Not sure, but he should.

5-5 from the floor, 1-1 from three, 5 assists, zero turnovers (with 6 boards) in less than 20 minutes today. Pretty nice little Saturday.

Absolutely agree. But you know what, I like Baby D starting with KD coming off the bench. Not because I think that Baby D is better mind you, but I think it helps Baby D get into the flow of the game better right from the start and he doesn't seem so clueless and scared out there like he does when he comes off the bench. And if anyone can provide a spark, it's KD.

I posted in the game thread that next game I want everyone to post every time Kyle does something that impacts the game, especially the things that don't show up in the boxscore. I think will be amazing to see how many things it really is. He is the perfect team player and without him we wouldn't be where we are as a program.

Does Kyle Davis' improvement from the 3pt line remind you of any other recent Flyer?

3pt percentage by year
Kyle Davis:
Fr: 17%
So: 22%
Jr: 33%
Sr: 38%

Devin Oliver
Fr: 16%
So: 21%
Jr: 28%
Sr: 40%

In case anyone doubted Archie's ability to improve his players' shooting, DO and KD are two pretty solid case studies.

I used to cringe when Kyle would shoot a 3. Now, I'm surprised when it doesn't go in.

I think there was one big difference. DMO spent his first 3 season firing them up even though his percentages said he shouldn't. KD never put up even close to the amount that DMO did and rarely was his timing of doing so as bad as DMO's. Love the way DMO finished, but was not real happy with him his first 3 seasons. I've loved every minute we've had of KD.

In all fairness to DMO though, he went from typical BG player and even though it took him 2 full seasons under AM to achieve it, he became a typical AM player by his senior season.

Actually, the exact opposite is true. Comparing the two, Kyle attempted 50% more 3s during his Fr-Jr seasons. Time tends to distort our memories.

Total 3pt attempts Fr, So, Jr Seasons:
Oliver: 105
Davis: 157

I stand corrected. However, I do stand by my point that his timing of chucking the 3 was worse than KD's. And again going by memory, I used to find myself livid with DMO just about every game for his ill-timed 3s, I don't remember myself being frustrated with KD. He rarely takes a difficult 3, just they didn't go in.

I agree that my memory is flawed in this stat. But I believe there's a logical reason. Maybe my memory is also failing in the following statement but I believe that just about all fans here complained about DMO's taking of 3s in his first 3 seasons while most didn't complain about KD taking them, just that he needs to improve upon making them.

Kyle hitting threes is huge. Not just the points, but some teams were leaving him unguarded on the perimeter at the start of the year. It opens up the driving lanes.

Yep, and if comparing to DMO, it's much more important that your SG be able to keep the Defense honest from outside than it is your PF.
