John Crosby Thread
I thought we should have a space where we can post thoughts, stats, opinions, curses, praises, or general observations on John Crosby.
There could be a thread on UD Arena beer prices and somehow JC ramblings start five posts down.
Not saying that he cannot or should not be mentioned in other threads, but if you have a beef on him, come here.
Also welcome: how much or how little JC plays, his general attitude, turnover to assist ratios, his haircut, and his ninth grade homeroom teacher.

Great idea,
One observation - through end of this year, JC should get 5 minutes of playing time at the most. If Scooch needs more rest, use DD or Kyle at the point for a while. Also, If JC dribbles below the foul line into traffic and commits a turnover, promptly put him back on the bench.
By the way, watching McKinley Wright play yesterday was quite encouraging.

I think Crosby has potential. I think he dribbles too high. I remember Scoochie early on dribbling incredibly low. Maybe it reduced his ability to score, but he controlled the ball. JC wants to do so much instead of letting the game come to him. I think where he's seen the floor well and pushed and finished. Or times he's started the passing rotation to get the ball and make a jumper.

Look at the efficiency ratio. Consistantly negative. Watch him over and over drive into trouble. Worst player in decades. We could never give him the keys. Be like Andy giving the squad car to Otis!

Worst player in decades, could be one of the worst statements in decades on this board as far as absolutes.
If you all need to vent on the guy, do it with some constructive criticism. These absolutes aren't true, and they aren't helpful. I see potential in the guy, he just needs to tweak some things, improve his timing, and not over commit. Kind of what you might expect from an underclassmen.

Consider the source, he hasn't had a kind word for JC from the get-go. Shows more about him than JC.

Crosby has gotten rid of most of his high dribble. He does it now when he gets nervous because guys are standing. He needs to learn to take it low and around the defender with his head up like Schoochie does. It will come.

After all the ripping of Devin Oliver, Kyle Davis (guilty myself in the beginning for KD) and Darrel Davis I would have thought some of us would learn to give it a rest by now...I guess not.

I do not know whether Cosby is guilty, but leave the old guy alone. Too little too late. It is time to move on. By the way his first name is Bill, not John.

I tend to agree with you that we probably rip too much, too soon. BUT the examples you give are all success stories (DD maybe still a work in progress but looking better with each game). Have there been any that have not panned out and the criticism was warranted? I'm sure there are more of those than the success stories so the ripping isn't always wrong.

[QUOTE=UD62;484936]Consider the source, he hasn't had a kind word for JC from the get-go. Shows more about him than JC.
Would be glad to say something nice but Crosby doesn't help me much there. I'm a truth teller. He crapped all over again tonight. Showed no ability to move the offense. Made a layup, hooray!!! But couldn't finish again inside again. One for 5! Anybody worse? 20 percent-that's pretty good, right! Did get 5 shots up in 8 minutes. Nice to see our worst shooter firing away. Can't wait to see the plus minus. Wanna guess what it shows- I'll bet that again he could be negative efficiency and once again the worst on the team.
A good business axiom is to trim out the bottom 10 percent. Hope Archie thinks likewise. JC needs to Follow Ralph Hill and others who simply don't have what it takes to compete at this level.
May be nice that some people support anyone in red and blue, irrespective of the facts and observations. It's called insanity. Even the weakest teams in the a10 have better players than JC. Probably a great kid, just not very good at this level and it seems highly unlikely that he will ever be a material contributor to Flyer success.

I'm waiting (and hoping!) for that moment or game where it comes together for him, like those above and XW. I remember the first few minutes that he was in during the Nebraska game this year, he had a turnover or two and missed an easy rebound. This just after the travel in the St. Mary's game. I was so close to starting a similar thread on him but within a few minutes he turned it on and has been playing pretty **** good ever since. Here's to pulling for JC!

Mad Dog, it's also insane to post the same stuff over and over. I don't mind some of your criticism. The problem is its the ONLY thing I remember seeing from you. Yes, you think Crosby is horrible, we all know that is your opinion. We are simply tired of you jamming it down our throats daily. Give it a rest.
Is there a player you like that's not a Senior? If you said so, I missed it, my apologies. Start a thread on someone from the non-Seniors you like and g8ve a minimum of 3 reasons why, that would be refreshing

And to be fair, I will give my thoughts on the Sophomore class.
Crosby: disappointing so far. Like I said, I don't mind the opinion, but don't need to jam it down everyone's throat. I want Crosby to slow down, see the game, not force the game. There have been times he's done this, so I do see potential. Can he harness it or always be out of control is my question. I think his defense is solid for a Soph.
Mikesell:I call him a sneaky bad ass. Is definitely at least a half step slow. Yet he'll get a rebound out of nowhere, a steal that no one saw coming, though will get burnt one on one, better than some others at help defense. Seems very smart, in the right spot more often than any other Soph, rarely makes a "stupid" play.
Miller. Nice stroke. Lost minutes because appears clueless on defense and is soft on the boards. I personally think fragile emotionally. However, plays like never had to play hard inside before. Not sure if hung out at perimeter in HS or was taller than everyone. Personally I think talent is there, but needs some maturity and more toughness. Wonder if being inside is actually new to him, which, if true, means a learning curve. I have hope it soon clicks for him.
Williams. Personally feel has shown most progress of group. Looked lost on court at start of season. Now looks comfortable. Weird stroke in my eyes, brings rain with his shot, yet one of better 3 ball shooters on team. Slowly but surely getting better at both rebounding positioning and defensive positioning. Great hands on the end of those long arms, usually if he can touch a rebound it's his. He's the Sophomore in who's progress I'm most happy.
There are my opinions. Agree or shred to pieces, but I thought if I was going to take a swipe (meant constructively) at another poster then I should put myself out there.
God Bless

No. No. No. This is not how this works!
This is the official "John Crosby is a basketball player who occasionally hits a 3 pointer, often drives out of control into 3 defenders to turn it over, occasionally gets an assist by driving under control and passing to Xman for a 3 against a zone(that actually happenned against St. Joes), considers defense optional, and often gives up runs to the opposing team giving him the worst plus/minus stats on this team" thread!!!!!
We aren't here to talk about the other 3 sophomores. Now let's stay on topic and talk about John Crosby!!!!!

It isn't just Crosby. It's nearly everything in game threads, men's or women's. You aren't a truth teller, because the truth usually has some good somewhere.
