The "confirmed" post has gotten so convoluted. Is he the first recruit to confirm?

Well done, Jordan!
Any of these young men, who keep their commitment, will (or should) become fan favorites the first time they walk down the tunnel onto the floor.

Well, as someone pointed out, it wasn't only that he was a PG, but he's the one who kept the mystery in the forefront due to his tweets and quotes. The others have stayed more behind the scenes. So this could be a great sign that the other 4 will stay too. Not holding my breath, but it's nice to know we will have more than just 2 real guards on our team next year.

You may now break my "Don't tweet the recruits" rule for one tweet(and just one) and congratulate Jordan on his decision.

NO!!!!!!
Mckinley could change his mind or Jaaron Simmons could decide to transfer and those minutes would immediately disappear. We don't want to get John's hopes up.

I don't get the don't tweet the recruits thing. If you're being respectful why not... is it for recruiting violations? If so if UNC players dont have to go to class and things are ok, a few fans tweeting players is going to be an issue.

Technically yes, it is a violation for alumni, donors, season ticket holders, ect. to tweet and have contact with recruits. This is NEVER enforced, but it is a violation.

It's like going 1mph over the speed limit, its never enforced so i'm not certain why its been made a huge deal on this board.
I see large schools fans tweeting everyone out the wazzoo. No violations will come of it. That said I have twitter, but don't tweet anyone.

The problem is the people who don't tweet respectfully and there are plenty of them. It is also technically a violation from my understanding of the rules. IMHO adults/fans shouldn't be tweeting @ high school kids anyway.
A VCU recruit who asked for his release was so inundated by tweets from their fans that his mom asked the fans to leave him alone. And guess what. He's not going to VCU anymore. Fans think they are helping the situation, but in reality it can annoy and bother the recruit. It is a big decision for the players and their families and people who don't know them should let them make their decision in peace.

Really? Season ticket holders? That seems like a restriction that can't be enforced nor is really fair. They obviously can't penalize the ticket holder so can they really penalize the recruit or school based on what a portion of their fan base does?

Yes, season ticket holders. Anybody who contributes money to UD or went to UD is considered a representative of the school. Fair or not, that is the rule.
EDIT Below is a good source of information put out by Michigan Tech on the topic. In there it mentions boosters and who count towards being boosters or representative for schools.

Thank you Mr. Davis for staying on with the Flyers. I promise you this; no coach is perfect, no team is perfect and most seasons end with a final loss. But you will never regret your decision to play here and trust me, the fans will remember your loyalty. And you will be playing for one of my all-time favorite Flyers; it doesn't get any better than that.

I believe Jordan Davis and his family was at the Davidson game back earlier in the year. They were the most vocal contingent in the UD crowd. Clearly, the whole family bought into UD.
Somewhat on topic: things seem to have gotten really ugly in here lately. A) we have everyone at each other's throats B) we have grown adults contacting teenage kids and C) grown adults criticizing the play of college students(that mind you, aren't paid for their work other than a free ride at UD). I appreciate the passion the fans show for UD basketball but let's not lose sight of the fact that these are kids and none of them owe any of us anything. To criticize their play or decisions is unseemly. I hope to God none of our current players or recruits go anywhere near this place.
And I'm sure I just gave the pot another stir with my comments.

Hopefully Jordan's decision will influence McKinley's decision, but if not, we move on. This recruiting class was ranked about 100, so are we really losing that much in the long run. McKinley was Mr. Basketball in Minn. Where would he be ranked versus Ohio's top players??

"Dayton University" was "Dayton University' long before McKinley Wright committed. "Dayton University" will be just fine post- McKinley Wright. He is a great player, the loss hurts but we will be just fine. Jordan Davis just re-upped. Thats a big deal. If McKinley can't even get the schools name right, that tells me alot.

If you think this board is bad, I would not suggest you go to 99% of the of the sports message boards out there. They are pure filth when it comes to ripping their own players and pure vial when it comes to opponents players. The only board I have seen that is close to the utopia of a message board you describe is Davidson. The only reason I post on here as much as I do is because for the most part you can actually have a good debate with someone with differing opinions without it getting personal.
As far as criticizing players go, for the most part even they would admit it's fair game. Don't make it personal or take it to something more than just basketball, like making making assumptions about their character or work ethic. For instance, many people who have never met Sam Miller, have no real clue how he is off the court are convinced he is lazy, has a bad attitude, and should transfer. Or Smitty's relentless attacks on Charles Cooke. Keep it to strictly basketball and it's fair.
As far as contacting teenagers, as C-Time says, DON'T TWEET AT RECRUITS!

In fairness i think there is a difference between contacting a recruit to beg them to stay/come to your school and tweeting congratulations or a warm welcome after said recruit has made their decision.

Just don't accidentally delete the '[', ']' or '/' and everything will work.

For the most part, I don't criticize players on here. If I do I try to keep it to how I would put it to a player if I was coaching him/her.

NO! The short grace period I allowed people to tweet congratulations to Jordan Davis has ended and MW still was subject to rule.
So we are now back to "DON'T TWEET RECRUITS" under any circumstances.

As my parents would say, "I don't care what any other board says or does, I only care what my UD board says." We consider ourselves an upper level program, so let's act like it. The fans of other A10 schools don't embarrass me but this board gets tacky at times. These are young men who want to do as well as we want them to. Critique their play, not their person. If you are a UD grad, these are your brothers.

Yes. We will be just fine. Are you OK being just fine? I'm not. I want to be great. Losing MW doesn't get us closer to great...
Nobody can convince me losing MW is a good thing. Hope I'm wrong.

No one is okay with being "just fine", but I'm not convinced that MW takes us from "fine" to "great" next year.
Losing MW is not a good thing as we sit here today, but let the situation play out. Let Coach Grant do his work.
In the fall of 2005 we were excited for the big name recruits Trent Meachum and Norman Plummer, not too much hype around an undersized kid from Toledo named Brian Roberts.
In 2010 there was plenty of excitement for Staten and Spearman (and rightfully so), not too much for Devin Oliver.
Way back in 2000 there was a huge class diluted with names like Lamar Hill and Stan King, with not too much said about Ramod, Finn, or our soon to be legendary local walk on.
Not having MW is not a good thing today, but I argue there's is plenty of talent here named Josh, Xeyrius, Kostas, and now Jordan, with more on the way. Let coach do his work. Exciting days are ahead.

Kostas wants to play the Point anyway - this gets him more time at that position. And it opens up a spot for AG to bring in one of his own players.

Highly doubt it too. Kostas is still very raw. But I have seen VCU and Alabama folks suggest that Anthony Grant really tends to run a lot of ISO for star players, running offense through them. Much like in the NBA. When the Bucks decided to make Giannis their PG, it raised a lot of eyebrows, but it has turned out to be brilliant. With Grant having seen that happen firsthand while sitting on the sidelines for OKC, I can see their being a temptation to run the offense through Kostas if -- and it's a big if -- Kostas' game develops and he blossoms as a star player.

Dayton made it to the Elite 8 in a year that showed little promise - down to 6 scholarship players, 5th in A10 - and then the Flyers went on to beat (The) Ohio State, Syracuse(!) and Stanford in the NCAA.
so anything can happen . . .
That is what makes us the Flyer Faithful.

They didn't have 6 scholarship players when they made the elite 8 run. That was the year after when they won a first four game and beat Providence.

Dayton proved under Archie they can win playing small ball. Great guard play saved the day.
AG is inheriting a roster with more guys, but huge question marks in both the front court and back court.

I think you have 2014 and 2015 NCAA tournaments mixed up.

Small ball only works to an extent that limits the ability to advance in the NCCAt. It may get you through the A10 but your chances to advance get decidedly lower in the T.
Look at the size of teams advancing into and past the SW16.
Yes Archie was able to work wonders with small ball but if you look at the last 2 years it didn't provide the magic that the E8 had nor the year after.
As FlyerFans we are starting to want ... I MEAN WANT more than just the invite.

While true, the 2014 team went to the E8 with a 10/11 man rotation. I don't believe the 6/7 man rotation of 2015 could have beaten OSU, Syracuse and Standford, even the round of 32 was amazing.

Sure they could've. Syracuse and Stanford didn't even make the tourney and OSU was a 10 seed and we were able to take down a 6 seed. Of course if we would've gotten them in Columbus like we did Providence, it would've been tougher.
Seriously though, I agree with your premise that a small ball team can't make it all the way through the tourney, I believe if this team wouldn't have been saddled with playing 6 games in 10 days(meaning not getting stuck in the first four), we would've had a great chance of sweet 16 or even elite eight. Different times I know, but in 1984 we got to the elite 8 playing small ball.
