Rhode Island Game Thread
First and Foremost... Thank you Jordan Sibert for an amazing 2 years!
Secondly... This is quite possibly the biggest/most important game at the Arena since Pitt came to UD several years ago. Let's keep it up and stay in 1st in the A10.
Game is on Tuesday at 7 PM and will be shown on the CBS Sports Network
Starting Lineup:
G 1 Jarvis Garrett 6'0" 170 FR Milwaukee, WI
G 32 Jared Terrell 6'3" 220 FR Weymouth, MA
G 0 E.C. Matthews 6'5" 190 SO Detroit, MI
F 12 Hassan Martin 6'7" 230 SO Staten Island, NY
F 55 Gilvydas Biruta 6'8" 235 SR Jonava, Lithuania
E.C. Matthews meet Kyle Davis.
I know the Arena will be rocking! I Believe! Go UD!

Happy Senior night Jordan.
It may not quite rank up there with Schellenberger to Chappie to Young, but Khari to Kyle to Jordan for the 3 turned out to be a much bigger win than anyone thought. Dayton was a team coming off a mixed season, that had replaced some proven upperclassman (Benson & Dilliard) and had what was at the time a mixed bag coming back. Kavanaugh was coming off his 1 year hiatus, who the heck was going to play PG, a true frosh? Oliver kept improving, but no way he was an all-A10 performer, or so we once thought. Heck, Jordan didn't even start the game, but he sure did finish it. While a top 50 recruit out of HS, a broken leg late in his HS career quickly derailed his tenure at Ohio State. He never could shoot straight, he never could consistently get off the bench, did anyone expect Jordan to have such a quick, immediate impact on UD? Hell, it would be tougher to have a more immediate impact than hitting the game winning 3 pointer in the season opener. At a time when a team was looking for a spark to bring them together, facing an improbable loss to a team most couldn't find on a map, Khari to Kyle to Jordan will go down in Flyer history as one of the key sequences in its long and storied history (and perhaps its most underappreciated)
Thanks Jordan, for providing the heart and sole to this year's squad. A team facing all kinds of adversity, with no one sitting on the bench ready to take your spot when you start grabbing at your shorts, the loan senior has been a prime example of not letting your situation dictating your success, but rather your success dictating your situation. As we've recently learned, his been fighting a wrist injury that requires daily rest, a cast even to prevent further strain, yet not only is he UD's best long range threat, he's improved his free throwing shooting, the number of free throw attempts, his rebounding, and his steals. At a time when many would fold, Jordan (and all) have refused to give in, have taken a tough situation and proven to be tougher.
Thanks for the memories.

Not sure I want K. Davis taking the last shot of the half for UD & hate to see Pierre pick up his second foul 4 seconds before the end of the half.
Held RI without a FG for the last 3:07.

If Pierre had avoided that foul, it would have been a great first half. Hassan Martin is a handful.

I expect URI to focus on Sibert the second half, which is what VCU did. That may open up opportunities for Pierre and Pollard.

actually will open things up for everybody because they've been swarming Scoochie in the halfcourt and if they don't keep it up, he will find open man much easier, and it might be himself.

Love Sibert today. His defender is overplaying him like glue so he has taken him off the dribble a couple of times.

2 differences, I could actually see how the Refs could have missed this one. Also, Mathews didn't take 3 steps holding the ball afterwards.

exactly, 13 point lead, let them have that inside shot, rather give up points than get in foul trouble.

Not showing a 4th foul anywhere on that T. What's the official ruling please?
On the big board at the arena 32 still has 3 fouls
Nevermind... I made a mistake on the player

So far we've answered back each time RI seemed ready to make a run. But you know Hasan & EC will go back to pick & rolls to try& get to foul line.

At this rate all 5 starters will have double digit points and our bench will have 0...not a great stat line but will make for a nice Golden DNutz discussion.
Did I just jinx My Team??!

With this kind of team performance tonight, the list of teams that would come out on top against Dayton is real, real short.
