Grand Canyon University
Very interesting article on the only for profit Division I university. They have been in a constant growth pattern with new facilities everywhere. Constant advertising on TV. They actually got Louisville to play them home and home over the last couple seasons. Signed a 4 star recruit in November. Worth the read.

They have head coach, and longtime NBA veteran and All-Star, Thunder Dan Majerle.

I believe they averaged over 7K attendance last year. That puts them well into the top-100. Pretty impressive. GCU and NMSU do not belong in the beleaguered WAC.

It is not only for profit but it is also listed on the NASDAQ. I actually respect a for profit university (as well as for profit hospitals). More honest than not for profit that take in a whole lot of donations but where does all the money go?

The ex-Bowling Green hc, Chris Jans, who was fired a few years ago for that incident in a bar, is the hc at NMSU, who is in first place now in the WAC. So, he has been able to get back on track.

So internally GCU considers Gonzaga and Butler to be mid majors. Wonder how those 2 schools feel about that - glad we weren't mentioned.
