Obi on Titus and Tate
Obi was interviewed on the latest "Titus and Tate" podcast. Well worth the time to listen. If you don't regularly listen to the podcast, the two hosts were in Maui and have been on the Obi bandwagon all year. Obi comes off great during the entire interview. He praises all his teammates, AG, and the Dayton fan base. It's still amazing to hear a UD player interviewed for 25 min on the country's most popular college basketball podcast.
Here's direct link to the podcast. Interview starts at 59:20.

Or if you prefer to watch, here's the episode on Youtube. Interview here starts at 31:45

What an enjoyable interview. The character of this young man is such a testament to his parents. We have been so fortunate that have him as a Flyer.
Lots of comments stand out in this interview, but the one that sticks out to me the most is when he talked about close this group was. How they would do everything as a team, watching each other's back and making sure nobody does anything stupid or something to get into trouble, because it not only makes it look bad for that individual, but also as a team. That's that "culture" that Coach Grant has mentioned so many times. Something that may have sacrificed early success in those first couple seasons. I believe that culture is so important to instill into a program and I think this team has set a precedent and example for future Flyers. Coach Grant deserves every bit of recognition that has come his way.

C'mon now, I know your getting bored with this quarantine stuff, as I am. This is a great Flyer fix listening to the greatest Flyer talk from the heart for a long interview that would make any fan proud.
Our man, Obi1 as they christened him.
Great post!

I was watching a college football game once. Big game (cant remember whom). One of the stars on one of the teams was an consensus All World (cant remember whom). They were interviewing his parents in the stands as the game was going on. The talking head sticks his microphone into the face of mom and asks her what she's most proud about her son's accomplishments.
She looked at him and said, "he's a gentleman."
Seems like something Roni Toppin would say. You see it in how Jacob acts as well. There was no place for nimrods at her dinner table. Hard to do when your kids have been told their whole life how great they are. We saw this in Ernestine Grigsby too -- Chris Wright never had to worry about BG laying down the law -- it was going to be 10x worse if he had to face momma.
Culture is important. You take solid kids from families that care, then add them to a coach and coaching staff that demands an ability to be an animal on the court but a puttytat off the court and you create an environment where accountability is the foundation of everything being asked and given.
