This is beyond stupid. "No matter how much talent . . ." So if we had the 13 best players in the country that were all 4 year players with postseason experience we couldn't win an NC? And Dayton itself believes that?
Utter nonsense.

I really wish Butler wouldnt have played in two straight national championship games. I believe it has added to people's delusional expectations that UD could somehow reach that pinnacle again. It's not 1967 where our program is still regarded as a power in the college ranks. The forest has grown up around UD. I thought we had a shot at a Final Four under Archie but that was really unrealistic if you think about it. Mark Few is an icon. I wish the comparisons would stop. He is only one idol coach. Please name another program 'we' idolize. There are none. UD fans have their sights set too high. Jmo

It's a mentality that many UD fans share. We are what we are.

And lowering expectations benefits the program how?

You should back out because it's the most ridiculous comparison I've ever seen on this board.

Don't want to put you in a frenzy, smitty. Read: Charles Cooke. Well just have to agree to disagree that Archie displays fire on the sidelines similar to one Bobby Knight. Don't forget your meds..

Those BK videos on YouTube are hilarious.
This golf one is gut-busting, bad language though, so beware: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Av6Mu8aLkio

Oh wait, my apologies. Misunderstanding. I thought you were referring to the Bobby Knight that coached at Indiana. I was puzzled. But now I understand. See I kept asking myself, how could anybody who knows how maneuver their way through an internet browser and post to a message board also believe that AM and BK have similarities in their mannerisms and personality. Then I realized, you must have been talking about the more subdued Bobby Knight of 2017.
Again, sorry for the misunderstanding, nobody could be that ignorant, not even you.

So, quick question before this thread dies.
Why didn't we hear anything about "IU has asked the U of D for permission to talk to Archie?" You always hear that when a coach is linked to a job and by accounts published, Archie met with IU reps twice (once in ATL on the way to San Jose, once at the regional site).
Did IU backdoor us, or is that "permission" thing overblown?

The back door trumps the permission thing every time.

Permission thing is overblown for college. I think this is more of a profession sports thing where the rules are much more strict about talking to coaches on opposing teams staffs.

Virtually everything is done through search groups now (Parker being one of the main ones). It's like online dating. The schools/Ads name the coaches they're interested in, the coaches (or agents) name the schools they're interested in, and you get matches without even talking to one another.

Unless it is someone on the staff now. Hard to argue with X and Butler success doing that.

You've heard the adage....
Better to ask for forgiveness than permission
In this case I'd expect that we will be obliged with neither.
