Auburn Game Thread
Biggest Non-Con Home Game this year... Hopefully we build on the fantastic 2nd Half last night against Akron... Auburn and Bruce "The Cheater" Pearl is 4-1 this year and they score in buckets (average 93.4 PPG). Hopefully we get off to a good start to this tough 2 game week (play at Miss St on Sunday Night).
Game is on Wednesday and is at 7 PM and will be shown on CBS Sports Network.
Starting Lineup:
G 1 Jared Harper 5’10” 170 SO Mableton, GA
G 2 Bryce Brown 6’3” 198 JR Stone Mountain, GA
G 5 Mustapha Heron 6’5” 218 SO Waterbury, CT
F 13 Desean Murray 6’3” 225 JR Stanley, NC
F 0 Horace Spencer 6’8” 225 JR Philadelphia, PA
Brown averages 19 PPG while Heron averages a little over 16 a night... Murray goes for 12 Points 9 rebounds a night.
Hopefully X and Trey are ready to go.
Get it done! Go UD!

Auburn should open 1-2 point favorite.
As we can all surmise, our Flyers can't afford a mediocre half to put this game in the win column.

I'm shocked that Auburn is only favored by several points. These guys can really motor. They average 5 steals/game, 6 blocks/game, and score in bunches.
6 players averaging 9 to 19 points/game.
Shooting 50%/38/75. Shoot 25 threes/game. Averaging 10 more rebounds/game than their opponents.
They have one Senior who rarely sees the floor. The starters have only one 6'8" player, and the next tallest player is 6'5", as shown above. Much like Akron. But this is a better team than Akron.
We cannot let them get up double digits or it could get ugly.

My line is based on computer power ratings. If this game was playing
at Auburn, the line would be Auburn -9.
Anyway, one bad half and the Flyers are toast.
At least we head into this game on a positive note after that exhilaring
second half against the Zips.

And we need to play a few of the upper echelon. Our record against power 5 (really should be 6 including BE, which is often better than some of the 5), while strong, is largely built on the bottom tier like Ole Miss, Alabama, et al. Would like to see an occasional game vs Duke, UVa, NC, Ky, KS, Fla, Ucla, O, Nova, MSU, and the like even if we have to do 2 for 1 or worse.

Those schools don't do 2 for 1 deals. You show up at their arena to play or run into them in an exempt tournament or you don't play them at all. None of those schools are coming to UD Arena to play UD.

Not sure if I read that page correctly, but it looks like the last time we were home underdogs was January 2017 vs. URI, we were +1.

Last 30 times that UD was a home dog.
You selected Dayton against anyone during the regular season at home over 30 games as an underdog of 1 to 60 points.
Dayton is 15-15 overall, 15-14-1 ats, and 9-9-2 over/under in these games.

The below thread mentions 2 other sites with archived gambling odds.
https://www.reddit.com/r/sportsbook/...ical_database/
1. Site requires payment to view the information.
https://www.sportsinsights.com/sport...s-sports-data/
2. Site requires the ability to construct SQL database commands to get the information. That site looked to be a pretty big pain in the rear to use.

Kostas with 2 fouls in 28 seconds. That is bad.
The charge call was crap.

I know Rollo will disagree, but offensive foul on Kostas 1st play of game huge. To me clear block and 1. Refs change games. Different momentum with call. Dayton still loses but call changed game along with Kostas' stupid 2nd quick foul, easy call.

And then a sixth turnover bailed out by a questionable foul. We are playing at a pace much slower than Auburn. Very lethargic.

It appears UD runs the pass the ball around the 3 point line for 27 seconds zone offense.

Shooting 27% and 9 turnovers. Lucky to only be down 8.

Difference in the game.
Auburn 6/13 from 3. Dayton 2/12 from 3. +12 points on about same shot attempts.
Possessions are even with Dayton advantage offensive rebounds and Auburn Turnovers.
Need to avoid last 4 minutes of 1H collapse.

Okay Crutcher time to pass up the 3 for a while unless you're trying to join the club with Svoboda and Xman.

Its pretty clear that Crosby is not really in any of AG's plans. Seems he only plays due to necessity at this point.

Horrible blockout and rebound by Kostas on that follow-up stuff. Get some fire dude. I think he falls asleep on that zone with Auburn never penetrating.

Hey, at least he admitted that because of Dayton, Nova came within a hair of getting knocked out in the first round of the year they won the championship.

My bet is that Crutcher starts once 2nd semester starts. AG has to keep Crosby around for the whole year. If he starts Crutcher now Crosby might transfer at the end of 1st semester.

I think the difference is Flyers missing a lot of shots from point blank range. Or so it seems to me.

He was terrified of picking up a 3rd foul. He was simply trying not to touch anyone.

Outrebounded 14-9 in the last ten minutes. For the half 10 turnovers and 28% and 2-14 from 3. As the announcer said, we have big problems on offense.

DD had 10 pts after 10 minutes and zero in the last ten. When you do not run an offense it is too easy to guard him.

Crutcher has a kenpom offensive rating of 81 and Crosby 100.
I believe only 5 players in the last 15 years have had offensive ratings less than 85. Early in the season and Crutcher has potential, but not there yet. So don't see why such faith in Crutcher so far. Guns 3 and poor defense.

If we are going to get killed, get Jordan Davis and Svoboda some playing time in addition to Kostas and Crutcher.

I can't wait to check on the phase 2 arena updates in November 2018. This kind of effort isn't worth the 4 hour round trip. I can watch the rebuild from my couch.

Darrell just got blocked because he refused to shoot a left handed layup. SMH. Went for the reverse right into the defender.

Svoboda and Crutcher need to learn to move their feet. Clear blocks and they put hands up and ask why. Easy calls.

Cunningham is intimidated when he has a better athlete playing D on him. Of course does not help that we never get the ball inside.

Many issues. Here's one: Anyone notice how many blue jerseys under the basket rebounding, vs white jerseys on each offensive end?
