You guys have a solid squad that is able to win on the road. Should be a good game for sure.
Don't know if you attending the game or not, but hopefully you enjoy your time here in Dayton and that your experience is a good one...except for the outcome of the game leaning UD's way!!!
March...best month of the year!!

will be a great venue. Wish you could experience it in the regular season when we have the student section, band and the season ticket holders- oh, and the beer- no beer at the first four. Good luck.

Welcome!
Hate to see BSU in the play-in with us, I think most UD fans would be big BSU supporters if the pairings had come out differently.
Gotta confess that I haven't seen a lot of Mountain West games this year, but know BSU has had a good club under Leon Rice & that the Mountain West is historically a tough conference to compete in. Would love to see UD set up home/homes with teams like BSU, SDSU, CSU, UNM, etc.
Should be a good game.

IMO we should have drawn a team like UCLA, (who doesn't at all deserve to be in) I'm glad you guys are respectful of my post. Most of the time everyone wants to talk down! I won't be in Dayton unfortunately, but im watching the Manhattan Hampton game right now, the facility is beautiful.

I'll echo the above sentiments. If BSU was playing any (and I mean ANY) team from a Power 5 conference, I'd be a BSU fan this year. Programs like yours and ours make up the Rodney Dangerfield bracket in the tournament - except Rodney was funny, and there's nothing funny about how our programs were treated during the selection/seeding process. We BOTH deserved better.
That said, I'm hoping my Flyers can win tomorrow, and then go into Columbus on Friday night and send Providence packing by a much higher final margin. Nothing personal about Providence, either. I just have no use for members of "The Club", and Providence is guilty by association.
If you're here in Dayton, I hope you enjoy your stay - right up until @ 9:00 tomorrow night.

Welcome to UDPride BSUFan! You guys are one of the few teams out there that has as legitimate a gripe as Dayton in terms of seeding, venue, etc. Everyone here agrees that you guys got the shaft playing a road game in the NCAA tournament. Looking forward to a good matchup, heard great things about BSU, especially your knack for ending other teams home winning steaks. Of course... the warm feelings only extend to tip-off, don't see BSU winning their first NCAA game in school history against Dayton of our home court

I just hope the announcers will get their comments of it being to big of an advantage for Dayton out of the way at the beginning... Hate when they focus on something like that on and on.

Trust us - they won't. One of the running commentaries on this board all year has been the repeated mentioning in the media of the titles bestowed on our only senior, "Ohio State transfer" Jordan Sibert, and our coach, "younger brother of Arizona coach Sean Miller" Archie Miller. It's almost like the talking heads have strings on the backs of their necks, or teleprompters with these scripts running on "continuous loop".
Regardless, you're going to hear it probably 6-7 times tomorrow night. Sorry. Don't shoot the messenger.

You guys are a really tough draw for us, I honestly think we match up better against Providence in the second round. As MANY have posted on this board, this would be a pick 'em game on a neutral court. Too bad you couldn't come to see UD Arena, if you are a college basketball fan it should definitely be on your bucket list.

I don't think this will count as a home game, so no streak will be on the line anyway.

Although the 3 games in the A10 tourny didn't show it, UD has held opponents to 31.5% 3 point shooting for the season and 5.5 made 3 pointers per game. If they do this against the Broncos, who rely heavily on the 3 ball, I see Dayton winning by 8.

BSU is the home team for this one as they are the higher 11.
UD will need to defend the three a lot better than they did in the A-10 tournament, or they will once again lose a first round ncaa game in UD Arena following an elite 8 run the year before.
This will be a tough game, I haven't seen BSU play this year, all I know is, they shoot the three well and play great on the road. Our guys are very tough mentally and I think they will find a way to pull this one out, but just barely.

Agreed, but in the A10 Tourney it seemed like every hope and prayer went in behind the arc for our opponents. I wish we could find our three stroke as well, seems like its been MIA for a couple weeks.

Even that's okay as long as you accept that you're on a UD board and behave accordingly. (See xubrew.)

Watching BYU made me think no 25 win team in a Top 10 conference should have to play here in this event. We have 3 of them.

Wow...a great game tonight at the Arena between BYU and Ole Miss. A real shame that someone had to lose.
After that, most anything is going to seem dull.

Even the guys back in the studio echoed the same sentiments. Who'd thunk the best games would be played on opening night.
BTW stop calling it the play in game. This is the first round of the NCAA tournament. Winner of tomorrows game will play Providence in the second round in Columbus.
The only advantage Dayton will have is their fan base and possibly the rims. Teams will be on opposite side of the arena than usual, and the NCAA has shipped in their own court, so the fell will be a lot different. No student section but a raucous crowd just the same. Oh and possibly a little more sober, no beer sales during NCAA.
Hope tomorrows games are just as entertaining. Let the best team win.

And what happened to New Mexico?
They used to be a power in the Mountain West . . .
Good luck to Boise State (next year) . . . Dayton grad (72').

Actually, because the First Four is in Dayton every year, we store a NCAA floor at the Arena.

And let's not forget ten minutes of diatribe about the rotation on Kendall's free throws. Although that topic alone is worth another five minutes

Evidently I made a bad choice when I selected the United States Military Academy over Boise State.....love my alma mater and my wife (graduate of Towson and very beautiful young lady), but West Point girls don't look quite that nice

Tremendous respect for the Broncos. You guys played an incredible game despite having to play on the road.
Hope to see you guys in next year's tournament, though let's not meet again until after the Sweet 16.

BSUFan, as a fan of a program who has been on the receiving end of what just happened so many times, I can feel your pain. It will be interesting to see how people around here respond to the no call at the end, but I don't know how that wasn't called a foul. Don't get me wrong - I will take it. But it has to sting. I honestly thought the game was going to get away from us in the second half. No idea how we pulled that out.

Sorry, but that was not a foul. I am an ex-ref. As long as Kyle kept in his vertical defensive space, he did not foul. The Boise player jumped into him at the end, when Kyle would not bite.

You and Gotlieb are the only two that thought it was a foul. As explained by Wally Z the defender has a right to his space to defend and as long as he went straight up and came back down without landing on the shooter it was not a foul. The shooter initiated the contract trying to get free throws, refs weren't buying that.
So Gotlieb ends up looking like an a$$ and was outted by his own studio announcers.

Absolutely correct on the last play...no foul. Kyle went straight up and down. Marks jumped into the defender. Tightly called game for the most part. Am does it right...try to stay out of foul trouble in the first half and tighten it up in the second. Been a fan since '64...the most exciting TEAM I've ever watched.

This was a game worthy of the NCAAs. Boise State was a great opponent and I wish them the best, even though I still have trouble with the color of their stadium's field. I would love to see us schedule games with them.

It wasn't quite straight up and down. Kyle is clearly leaning forward towards the defender with his arms not straight, but pointed towards the defender. The shooter does initiate contact, and was late on the shot, and maybe that was the saving grace. But more times than not, I think that it called a foul. But, hey, it is about time we start getting some breaks. Wabs must be sacrificing chickens or something.

Can't call that and reward bad execution. Why was Boise shooting a trey only down one?

The more I listen to Seth Davis, the more I appreciate his knowledge of the game. He's well-studied, and he doesn't let conference bias (or "eye tests" ) influence his opinions. If a team's good, he'll say so. If a team's not that good, he'll say so, but he'll do it in a respectful manner.
Just so he doesn't become a shill as he gets older...

I really didn't understand Boise's offense down the stretch. Instead of working their passing game, they turned it into a one-on-one situation. In those situations, I'll take Kyle Davis any day. That kid is tougher than nails.

I sense an opportunity to begin an OOC home-and-home here. And, given how this played out, I'd be willing to go to Boise first. A great program, with a class act for a coach. My kind of "friendly rival".
Just so we don't kill each other RPI-wise.

That's a good program. Their fans made themselves known, which the way the arena was tonight, is no small accomplishment. Their band is good, and their cheerleaders look even better in person.
I bet they have the same issues we do with scheduling. Maybe we can work out some home and home games with them. As important as SOS is, we will avoid the First Four just by playing each other.

Doesn't matter at all where his arms are pointed as long as they're not moving into make contact. There is no doubt that KD jumped towards the defender but squarely landed on both feet prior to the contact by the offensive player who initiated the lean-in contact..

Bask all you want cuz Providence cheerleaders are ugly...can't fine 1 'respectable' pic anywhere.
Beat PC and I'll have more OU* pics than your heart can handle...but let's take care of business Friday first.

Sorry, I've had an issue with him ever since he came on the Flyer Feedback show after the Pitt game. Even after that beat down of one of his beloved Big East teams, he refused to recognize UD has a big time program.
