Davis hit some big shots down the stretch and showed some massive cajones on defense.

I was going to abstain from voting.

Then I looked at the box score again and decided to vote for the only Flyer who played more than a handful of minutes who did not have a turnover.

26 minutes, good hustle, decent D, 5 points (was our spark to get us into double digits in the first half as our leading scorer!) 6 rebounds and 2 assists.

Mr. Bobby Wehrli. Thank you for choosing Dayton to walk on to the team.

That was a tough one between Wehrli and K. Davis. Kyle actually hit some shots, including the opening 3 in OT.

Really the only FG anyone scored.

I'm going to have nightmares about this game well into the summer.

I voted for Kyle, but Bobby was a man's man last night playing with that dislocated finger. Hope he is well for Saturday.

If held at gun point then Wehrli. No one else played well enough. KD needs to quit trying to dunk in traffic. Take the contact and lay it in.

What- no votes for Archie- ???had the team fired up and looking tourney ready???? Great adjustments!! Oh,I can hear it now, he doesn't shoot. He needs to seriously reevaluate what we are doing because it's not working. Any team inside the top 200 would have thrashed us. And other teams have injuries too

Scoochie

won the game for UD last night as he was the best player on the floor. Even with his missed foul shots and turnovers.

KD and BW were the only two players who needed a jock/cup last night. If I could split my vote, it would be for them. KD's 3's flat out saved our a**. I hope Sam Miller is still giggling on the bench somewhere, like he was the entire 2nd half.

Can't give him a pass regardless of the last few minutes. The guard play was atrocious in the first half and is the reason why the games was the way it was.

When I see Pierre and 4 bench players on the floor at the same time, I know Archie is sending a message...that message was that those non-starters can do exactly what you guys have been doing for 13 minutes.

New rule, Scoochie can Dab and show off after he makes 20 free throws in a row in regulation. He was deep in Bobby's ass in the second half when he penetrated too deep into the lane and tried to dump it to Bobby when he got into trouble...then lectured him when Bobby was the one who turned to try and get a solid box out with an out of control guard at the helm.

Sorry...Bobby wasn't big with the numbers, but he is one of a couple that played with intensity the entire time on the floor...he also did a good job defensively, compared to all, that won't show up in the scorebook.

I saw a team last night whose confidence has been shaken. SLU may have been one of the only teams in the country we could have beaten on the road. I saw several times near the end of the game and especially in the overtime where we made multiple passes to open guys around the perimeter. Good ball movement? Maybe, but mostly because only kyle, and to an extend Bobby (although does he really need to shoot 3's with a taped dislocated finger on his shooting hand), had the guts to take a shoot. Unless we get some confidence back and start taking care of the ball, this team will not win another game. I saw a shaken team and a coach with no answers.

Wow. I had not planned on re-watching the DVR of the game, but now I might. Apparently I watched a different game last night. The Flyers were on CBSSports right? I thought so. For SS to jump BW's s*** after BW had a solid box out on a horrible drive by SS tells me all I need to know. And who did Archie go after at the timeout? Scoochie.

Jim Crews... for having a team so terrible that UD couldn't possibly lose. I think they may have well lost that game by 20+ to every other A10 squad last night. UGLY. So to Jim Crews, I say thank you for the victory hope SLU keeps you around a few more years.

Seriously, there is no other choice. Our defense wasn't the problem so I don't look Wehrli's way. But down by 10 or whatever it was, when you're having trouble scoring more than a point a minute, and KD steps up gives us 5 straight points to make it manageable again. Without that, we start talking about the great collapse of 2016.

Kyle Davis minus the sentimental votes, should be unanimous. When all is said and done, he might have saved our season, for a 2nd time. Without him we have a loss at home to Miami and one against SL to go with Lasalle.

I gave it serious thought, but the jock-sniffers would have BBQ me for leaving off their BFFs. Part of Royalty is appeasing the masses. Especially the dumb ones.

Given that Bobby was asked to do something he had not been given the chance or asked to do all year long, and given the way he defended, rebounded, made the extra pass, quality of overall passing and ball handling, scored, played injured, went to the floor for a late-game loose ball tie up, and I highly suspect without the dislocated fly taped up Double fingers...he probably hits at-least two more three pointers, as he was essentially passing up shots because the taped fingers were making the shooting awkward. Given all of that, Bobby earned my very royal sentimental vote.

IF you look at it in terms of which player played the most positively out of character, it has to be Kyle. Not only 3/4 from 3pt at critical times, but also pulling key defensive rebounds out of crowds. He was the guy that Arch was pointing to at the end of the game as if to say, "That's what I'm talking about!".

The block of his dunk was an extremely good defensive play by the opponent. It's the one time all season that Kyle underestimated the player. If he had chosen his patented skip step he would have laid it in on the opposite side untouched. He had two choices that he is good at, and chose the wrong one.

He earned my vote as well. My vote wasn't as much sentimental though as it was just pure guts out there by him. Anybody here ever dislocate a finger? I did once playing BB at the park in a pickup game and puked once it was pulled back into place - of course i was probably 14 at the time. Still, i was done for the day. He came back and played BETTER in my opinion. I suspect we're going to see a lot more of BW going forward.

Longtimefan, great story and post.

But just so you know, my "sentimental" vote is really a running joke with some on the board about my love for Dyshawn Pierre. It's not really why I voted for Bobby...he truly deserved and earned it.

In defense of whoever voted for Pierre, in a low scoring scrum fest, 7 points, 11 boards, 3 steals, 2 assist, and 41 minutes of PT, is a pretty significant Stat line, to say the least.

Without Wehrli's first half performance we score less than 10 pts and the game is over. I don't care what anyone did the last 5 minutes and/or in overtime, BW kept us in a game everyone else wanted to lose.

AGREE with many Wehrli supporters. Kyle with some wild crazy plays, some key rebounds (huuuge) and key shots.

however we needed steadiness out there. Wehrli provided it! Played above and beyond.

Kyle a close second!

TRUE TEAM~

I always thought this award was for the person who played above and beyond normal expectations and to that Wherli, in this game, had no peer. Otherwise we could easily give the award to whoever had the best stats in the game and no one would need to think or have an opinion. What DP did was great but I guess I have come to expect this to be the normal from him.

I do not know where to put this comment so I will enter it here. Is it possible for Scooch to stop letting the ball roll to half court before picking it up? I can see doing that at the end of a game to save time but he has developed a habit of doing it just about every time it can be done. I do not know if it affects his play but it would seem to me to have two potential negatives.
1. He cannot make the quick pass up court if something opens up if the ball is not in his hands.
2. It is one more distraction from his viewing the floor and setting up the half court offense.

I might be wrong, but I don't think I see him do this when the defense hasn't had plenty of time to get back due to to a slow retrieval of ball and inbound. So I doubt he's missing out on any breakaway open players.

He only does this when we're losing and 2 positive things happen because of it: It saves a few seconds per possession and/or gives us more time on the shot clock to find a shot.

I won't complain until the day he gets his pocket picked.

It used to irritate me big time. Now Scooch rolling the ball only irritates me some, and a few others. I have figured out that for him it is like a pre-shot ritual that foul shooters and golfers and batters go through. It is also great practice for Scooch when he needs to roll it at the end of a game.

Hey Scooch, how about rolling the ball before you take your first foul shot, or developing some ritual besides stepping right up and pushing the ball at the front of the rim?

Wehrli certainly is winning when it comes to comments. But the silent majority says KD.

Same here, AJ. It was tough to vote for someone other than Bobby, but Kyle was the guy who kept us in the game in the 2nd half, when we could have folded like a cheap tent.

If ever there was a time for a "Co-Vote" for the DNutz award, this would be as good a time as any.

Go Flyers! Get it right on Saturday!

What I don't like about the ball rolling, is it shouts at me that very likely the other team just scored.

We could all run to the fridge or refreshment stand for a beer every time he rolls it.
