I think most of us figured something like this was a comin'. Unfortunately this is just how it is now days with some college athletes and general students. Sadly, we know this won't be the last time something like this pops up.

Obviously I'm holding my breath on this one. Could be total BS. At least it seems like a minor charge and doesn't have a stigma of a domestic situation or a sexual assault. Definitely changing my starting lineup prediction.

If he really did this kick him off the team. We don't need upperclassmen like that around all our incoming freshman. Addition by subtraction. He can join the likes of Robinson and Scott on wasting a great opportunity.

Oh please, like none of your friends ever got a Underage while in college. The fight happened while he was in jail. Who knows the situation there, but from what I know about holding cells, they can get some pretty rough people in there. Maybe he was just defending himself. Wait until the details come out before you put him with Robinson and Scott. What Matt Kavanaugh did was way worst and the University welcomed him back and he was an upperclassmen as well.
EDIT: This post was before the details and video came out. I retract this statement lol.

I agree, AG own his own or by force, may use this as an example to send a message to the rest of the team. I think the inciting incident which lead to the original charge will play a huge role in what discipline is given. When it all comes out was the police called because he was asked to leave a house or establishment and became combative? Was he unruly once the police arrived. Time will tell.

If that's what actually happened, buh-bye. Kids get drunk. Kids even get in fights. Kids that pi$$ on the floor of the tank while they're already in deep s**t show a total lack of respect and discipline. Go away and never come back if that's what actually happened.

Not sure what he was actually drinking that night/morning, but some of those micro brews will have you fighting family. Let this be a message to college kids...stick with the PBR, Natty or heck even a 40 of malt liquor before guzzling a few Gamma Bombs or Truths.

If the events in the report are true, Miller best hope Caddy's security cameras were "non-functioning" during the events. If Miller is on video pushing a female bartender after she cut his drinking off he's gonna have way more issues than being kicked off the team.

Ray Harper thinks this is a pretty good synopsis of Sam's night, but would probably change the last part to " and slapped another detainee who then kicked his ass."

In case any of you youngsters out there are reading this, let me give you some advice from a friend of mine who was a bouncer for many years.
A bouncer (in the article, "security officer") knows how to handle himself. If you're sober you have very little chance. If you're so drunk you can barely talk, a bouncer WILL drop you like a sack of potatoes and the only sound you will hear is the satisfying "smack" of your face against the concrete.
Do not try this.

Wow. What a story! Not a simple "got in a fight while drunk" story.
Are bouncers called "security officers" now or is the "security officer" that brought him to the ground something different?
Edit: -I guess I was too slow typing. Gazoo already confirmed. Thanks.

Do not be so hasty. A lot may depend on how CAG has assessed his talent in the practices that he has observed. He may be guilty or innocent; worthy of another chance or told a change of scenery may do him good.

If there was ever any question as to why Sam doesn't like playing on the low post, this video should clear things up.
He's royally lucky Ray Rice wasn't in that cell with him.
OHHH, and here's a video of Sam working out before heading to Caddy's. It, too, explains a lot.

Sam is lucky Watkins had mercy on him and went to the door to get the officers attention once he got knocked down. Watkins could have kept pounding on him for a while if he really wanted to.

Could this make ESPN SportsCenter tonite? Sam better hope it's a busy and exciting evening in baseball or his lowlight might make the highlights.

Agree, but from multiple sources this was not like it is the first time Sam Miller has partaken in drinking an adult beverage, or case of adult beverages.
Glad I was always a happy drunk!

Seriously guys...Good thing dude/Miller didn't have his night out in one of the great municipalities of Montgomery County. His early morning antics in "The County" with at least 24 other dudes in his cell waiting to be processed would have taken a much tragic turn. Once the video from Caddy's come out and go viral, good luck Mr. Miller in your short turn future endeavors.

Pretty amazing that they released the video of the jail fight. Sam was very very drunk. I feel for his uncle and aunt. They have to be embarrassed and humiliated.

Not sure even with a slow sports news cycle how much national interest there is for a story about a center from "Dayton University" this time of year may be. However, Miller better hope TMZ Sports doesn't get in touch with the right person at Caddy's or another source whom has access to the video. $$$ talks and TMZ loooooves video content.

Why are you surprised they released the video from the jail? I'm pretty sure all the news people had to do was submit a public records request for it just like they would for video from a patrol car camera or a body camera. Only reason for the jail to not release it is if there was something to cover up or if the incident was still under investigation. The only thing that surprised me was how quickly they released it.

According to what the bouncer reported on Fox 45 Miller and several other UD Men's and Women's bballers enjoyed Caddy's College Night on the infamous night. Hopefully Miller is the only casualty of the situation

Which is perfectly fine as long as they Uber'ed out there.
But if his teammates were there it does beg the question why none of them went outside to try to get him under control once he got kicked out by the bouncers.

If I'm not mistaken his mom is a JUDGE in DC and I think his dad is a attorney as well. If I'm wrong chalk it up to old age ". But I can't be wrong, I tell my wife that all the time.
Pushing the lady bartender- who should of stopped serving him long ago and the fellow UD male and female ball players who didn't stop him. Interesting to find out who they were.
He was stupid drunk and deserves whatever comes his way. It would be interesting as to why he did it.
I do remember my freshman year (1964) going out with my roommate to get drunk after he broke up with his girlfriend. Vodka, orange juice, and a pitcher of beer. What was the name of the bar on Wayne that had the john in the basement? Had to go down the steps backwards and hold onto the rail.
I did remember to get back to Steward Hall and sign in for the 12PM check-in although I had to ask where to sign my name as I couldn't focus my eyes.
The next day when we went to eat at Marycrest, the word of our exploits had spread, and we had a line of girls who saved their morning orange juice politely placed them on our table.
How many remember "Robin Hood Ale". 16 oz bottles, 12% and a little under $5 a case of 24 bottles?

Everything happens so fast sometimes maybe they were scattered around or many had already left..there are other times your friend(s) try to stop you but it's constant babysitting and you go take a leak and before you know it all chaos takes over...
Will be interesting what AG does here..I suspect he'll not get tossed off the team as he's not been in any other trouble at UD or outside, iirc.If his alcohol issue is not something he does or doesn't need/ seek help for (only Sam, close friends and maybe his teammates would know this) ,I'd guess they'll suspend him indefinitely and certainly hold off from any final decisions and let the court proceedings take over but besides running his arse off and getting many scholarship privileges taken away (if that can even be done if still on schollie ?) he'll also get suspended the first 10 plus games or so..

Miller was just asking Watkins "What did the five fingers say to the face?" Clearly Watkins in his suspected drunkin' state could not take a joke.

The next time Sam gets arrested he needs to identify himself as a drunk female...not that doing so will prevent him/her from getting his/her *ss kicked in a holding cell, but it surely will lessen the chance.

I have been a big Miller fan since UD recruited him. Grant absolutely needs to put a stake in the sand, and let Sam go. And I mean right now. The guy needs counseling for his life style, temper and alcohol before it costs him his career and life. If I were his parent, as hard as it would be, I would jerk him out of school right now, get him in counseling and working, and then back to a different school next year.

Don't disagree...but dismissal won't be immediate. Sam has his own problems with the court system, but it also needs to flow through UD disciplinary process.

The disturbing thing to me is that he doesn't calm down after he gets arrested. Drunk and act like an idiot at a bar is one thing. Get arrested and not calming down is another thing. That really doesn't sit right with me

Let me describe a mistake. A mistake is drinking and driving. A mistake is getting drunk and mouthing off to a bartender and getting kicked out of a bar. A mistake is getting drunk and getting in a fight.
Let me describe what is not a mistake.
-A mistake is not pushing a female bartender for refusing to serve you. That is an attitude toward women. That is an attitude toward your entitlement to something.
-A mistake is not trashing the bar when you're not served. That is an attitude of petulance upon realizing your every whim will not be served.
-A mistake is not telling the cops you're going to hit someone. That is an attitude of disrespect.
-A mistake is not pi$$ing on the floor in the holding cell. That is an attitude of being above the law; untouchable.
-A mistake is not smacking a guy in the holding cell with you who is also having a bad day (for his mistake). That is a lack of self-awareness that you are in a bad situation and you are about to make it much, much worse.
Sam made a mistake, for sure. Then his mistake brought to light his poor character. And thank goodness it did, we don't need poor character individuals on the floor of UD Arena.

One of the absolutely worst tasting alcoholic beverages I have ever put in my mouth. Of course this was about 20 years after I graduated and had to try it again. Drank plenty of it in my younger years.

Being drunk can help you in a fight, but not when you are that drunk. When you're that drunk it is much more of a hindrance. He had no business starting any fights. I'm 5'9" 150 soaking wet and I'm 99% sure I could take him in that video.
He's gone. No chance you make it back from something like this. Comparisons to Kavanaugh and Pierre are pointless here. They were not even charged and the "evidence" in those cases was shoddy at best.
I'm thinking this goes down as a not-so-disguised blessing.

I am not sure you what you mean by "lessen the chance of getting his *ss kicked" unless you have a chauvinist belief that women are more likely to show mercy than just haul off and kick his *ss.
My guess is he very well might look the same the next day regardless of the sex of the other occupants of the holding cell.

That is a bunch of garbage. Getting drunk beyond able to control yourself is either a mistake or it's not. The results of that are what causes everything you described, from mouthing off, driving drunk and pushing bartender. Saying that while he was out of his head and he pushed a female bartender is an attitude toward women? Maybe, maybe not as he displayed somewhat the same attitude toward his male cellmate.
How can you say that driving drunk is a mistake and pi$$ing on the floor of cell is an attitude of being above the law? They both are breaking the law, the one you seem to defend has more dangerous consequences.
I'm going to guess that the actions you say are forgivable as mistakes are actions that you've at one time have partaken in. The others you haven't. So basically anything wrong you've done is a forgivable mistake and the ones you haven't are a display of your real personality, morals and ethics.

Sounds like he has highly educated parents and I believe his aunt/uncle? is a professor at UD so they should "get it". Parents need to make the call and pull him out of school and get him treatment now. The world does not need another Johnny Manziel.

Very well stated. He needs to be sent packing. I was patient with this guy despite his obvious lack of fire for the game, the team, and his conditioning. Send a message; kick him out and get an honorable young player on scholarship to replace him. There are guys out there yet who would love to put on the Flyer uniform and respect it.

Not to skip the due process of this all- but let's get serious. Sam acted like an arse at the bar, was physically handcuffed & arrested by the police. OK- I can maybe attribute that to just being blind drunk and out of control on a single occasion.
Then an hour later after going thru in-take he instigates a fight with someone not bothering him. That's where he loses me and does not get a 2nd chance. That tells me he's a bum without character. I'm shocked to hear he has family at UD- and he does this to them?
Good-bye Sam and I do wish the best for you.
