Patience Piqua. CAG has been way more honest and forthcoming with injury information than Archie ever was. When Kostas gets back to the states and doctors have made a final diagnosis we will know. Give it a couple weeks and I think we'll find out what is going on.
Archie would have kept the Mikesell hip surgeries top secret until March of 2018 and told everybody he had bone bruises and they hope to get him back soon.

I respectfully disagree. Kostas is just one piece of this years complex puzzle. A bunch of key pieces have to come together to protect our string of NCAA qualifying efforts. I would argue that pg is the most prominent key, but there are a gaggle of others as well.

Chris Wright
Staten (I hate to even put his name in print)
McKinley Wright (one of the reasons that I dislike Archie)
Kendall Pollard
Brooks Hall
Dyshawn Pierre
D Rodgers (Rollo reminded me that this guy was potentially NBA caliber...Sad)
Josh Cunningham
Trent Meacham
LaDontae Henton
Tons of recruits prior to O'Brien

Kostas last year was pencil thin. He has had a year to gain weight and strength. But, he is still thin. The other guy who is painfully thin is Obadiah Toppin. In practice alone, Jordan Pierce will have to be careful not to break these very thinly built colleagues.

He was thin like an un-sharpened pencil. Post-amputation, he should be more like a sharpened pencil. If he could wear the number two jersey for Dayton, that would be perfect.

I don't think anyone wants to rehash the good and bad about Archie, but with total disregard to McKinley and his high school dream of a championship, Archie chose to make his announcement 8 hours before McKinley's final game (for Mn 4a championship). Afterward they had one loss on their prior perfect record.

I have to totally disagree with you here. You expected Archie and IU to hold off on their announcement (After news had already broke on twitter and social media) because of 1 player's state championship game? I get it, it stinks for the kid, but it's not like somebody died. Suck it up and play they game. Show the world you are a tough minded player, not a snowflake millennial (Coming from someone who was technically born in the millennial era).

When you have a mostly healthy long-term relationship, there's not exactly a good way to end it. There will be hurt feelings no matter how or when it's done. All things considered and with a bit of time for reflection, Archie exited about as respectfully as he possibly could. If you have bitter feelings toward him leaving, fine, but you are lying to yourself if you say you would have felt better about him leaving if he had gone somewhere else, made his exit in some other way, or at some other time. A spurned lover is a spurned lover. You either make peace with it and move on, or you don't. But the fact of the matter is, we're all dating someone else now, so looking back is not really productive.

Pretty much nailed it. He is rumored to have a wooden post for a leg now, and is under care of the Greek Unorthodox Church of Medical Malpractice in Athens. I'm told it's feeling stiff. He's really lumbering. There isn't much risk of infection, but termites are a real concern.

Thankfully scurvy is no longer a concern these days, so he can focus exclusively on his wooden leg.

Kostas is going to be fine. Mikesell is a bigger concern. The guy who was entrusted to remedy Mikesell's ailing hip, Dale, is a mechanic over in Moraine. His solution was to install a hubcap. It could work I suppose, but the poor kid is never going to make it through airport security.

A wooden leg!! This is really going to put a bummer on this season. How is Kostas going to be able to jump? Maybe at 6'10" he does not need to jump.
Is the wooden leg only for the lower leg or does it also include the hip? Is the knee mechanical? Can it operate automatically, perhaps on batteries? Is that legal for NCAA basketball or does he have to turn the automatic joint off?
I am so glad for this forum, I would never get this accurate information from anywhere else. Thank you.

Actually, it will work out for the best. They added 2 inches to the wooden leg so he'll be 7' and wont have to jump. The down side is they had to add a 2 inch block to the shoe on his other foot so he can still get up and down the court.

Ray Harper has 3 wooden legs. Can really bring the wood.
As an aside, it feels as if Kostas' injury is totally manageable and we are going to see plenty of him this season. A far cry better than first reports. Yea!

Giannis was the original Greek Freak, but Kostas is way freakier with these medical enhancements. There's a Rick James number that Willy and the boys in the pep band really ought to learn cause it's going to get superfreaky up in the arena here in a few months.

Saw a bunch of new posts...thought to myself "Maybe there is news on Kostas!". Nope.
It does seem like it's been a little too long. I know he was headed back to Athens for another look. Then back to the states for yet another look - and that there would be an update after that. I would think they would want to get treatment going ASAP - but would think that wouldn't happen until he was back in Dayton and the team had taken a look.
For me it's a selfish thing that I want to know. It's also possible they are respecting the privacy of a teenage amateur athlete and not making announcements until the medical process has been completed.

"Bounce,
I awoke one day,
high in spirit,
with a bounce in my step.
I flew above the clouds,
above the sky,
bouncing throughout the abyss,
But as time dragged me through
this eternal eternity,
my bounce faltered, and I began to sink.
No longer could I touch the sky and stars,
instead settling for the feeling
of grainy dirt and hard wood planks
that encompassed my body,
a body that could bounce
no more."

I hear he's pursuing a career in the circus arts. Might go ahead and have them add a few feet as his senior thesis.
Rumor is that St. Bonaventure students are going to weld the infrastructure in a joint learning effort.

Haven't heard anything at all on Kostas in a while. Is he in Greece or back in the states? Is the leg broken or knee extended?

This is just my own opinion... but if it was really severe (i.e. a broken leg) I have a feeling we would have heard an official statement by now.
Maybe I'm just hoping lol

Why has there not been any announcement? I am going to go the other way... if it was good news in terms of the severity of the injury, I believe the powers that be at UD would have let us know by now.
1. UD knows, it is bad, they are trying to find out exactly how bad the injury is
2. UD does not know yet, Kostas has not yet been examined by the team doctor
3. UD knows, it is not a bad injury, but for some reason they have not released the information yet.
Not sure which one it is. Hope it is not #1.

MORE BAD NEWS-
His replacement leg was made out of ash, and now even the replacement is bad thanks to the emerald ash borer (if your not in ohio google ash borer and you will see the problem).
Yea dumb, is it time for the season to start yet?

So UD still doesn't know a diagnosis, and will wait to give more info until Kostas returns to campus Aug. 20th. Darrell Davis said he saw Kostas working out on instagram today though. If true maybe the Draft Express guy was right.
http://www.daytondailynews.com/sport...lHYCAcl4q2XYO/
“I heard he fractured something,” Darrell Davis said, “but when I asked him if everything was going to be OK, he said he’s not hurt too bad. I just saw him on Instagram today that he was working out, so I think everything is fine with Kostas. He’s coming back Aug. 20.”

Let's hope it is a hyper-extension. From the looks of the instagram video Kostas had his knee wrapped and not in a brace. He seemed in good spirits. I'm optimistic about his injury.

You'd think the program would want to get him back to campus ASAP to start rehabbing. Either he's not hurt bad at all or something is fishy.

They may not have a choice. If the kid isn't required to be on campus for classes, the school or team can't make him come back. This isn't professional sports where they have signed contracts and can dictate things like this.

And even if he were on campus, do you think UD would update us on his injury? That, my royal minions, would be a first.

Does anyone believe if Kostas's injury were really serious Giannis would allow him to travel around the world with him?
The Freak is a professional. He knows how professionals deal with injuries and how they can impact a career.
I have complete faith that big brother can afford and is making sure that young Kostas gets whatever medical treatment he needs wherever he is in the world.

I was thinking the same thing this morning. Giannis has taken a lot of interest in making sure Kostas is ready for the upcoming season. Surely if the injury was bad and needed treatment he would make sure he gets it - assuming he knows the full extent of the injury.

Everyone is moving in this weekend. Orientation, activities and what not. Any update on Kostas? Is he on campus? How's the leg??
Feel like this is one of the more pressing issues going into 2017/18.

MNFats: You just gave me a segway, speaking of pictures; i noticed that the incoming freshman text bio and pictures are still not posted under "roster" on the Dayton Flyer web site. School has started and these guys are here. Please someone ask the web team to update the web page! I noticed that the web team was quick to take Sam Miller's information off the web page.

They're most likely just waiting for a picture day to do all of that. Plus I bet the SID's office is busy enough trying to get stuff updated for the fall sports that are just getting started and will be playing games soon. BTW why do you need their pics and bio's right now?

Ball looks to be sized to roughly equal the size of one of Scoochie's.
The thinking here is that we'll be okay if Crutch is half the man/PG Scooch was.
Now, I'm hearing Crosby received the same ball, but it was quickly stolen.

It looks like too many people zoomed in on that pic of Darrell and the rules sheet so they deleted the tweet. LOL
Just found where somebody took a screenshot of the rules sheet since they deleted the tweet.

C-time: Ohio State's basketball website is completely updated with the new roster including the walk-on's plus the non-conference schedule and the conference schedule. Why am I comparing Dayton's internet presence with Ohio State? Answer: Because Dwayne Cohill or his parents might be noticing it; just like I just noticed it!
If you want to compete, you got to get in the game and little things like the internet page can be important.

After watching this clip, and realizing now that Coach Grant's knowledge of Kosta's health is as void as everyone else's, I just hope no one undercuts him like Alabama did to Josh. Kosta's video above shows a player moving at will against truly smaller inferior players, but when he lands he frequently lands on one foot while the other leg is flailing around. A serious D1 size defender could cause a very awkward landing for Kostas. I hope he sticks to wide open dunks. Kendall Pollard he is not. His lower body strength will be one of the first things the trainers will work on.

Kostas
may not be a Flyer long enough to develop an A-10 ready body.

Guy has not played a game and you have him transferring? Do you know something?

I have no idea how he is viewed thru the eyes of an NBA scout/GM, but I've seen several mocks that have Kostas as a lottery pick after his sophomore season at UD. I believe Giannis is a free agent in 3 more seasons, so an aspiring team may be inclined to draft Kostas higher than they normally would in hopes of getting a more favorable position with Giannis. I doubt he's predicting that he transfers out, but leaving early for professional basketball (either in the NBA or overseas) is a possibility to consider.

So there are four lottery picks. Nothing against the opinion of the teenager narrating the highlight video, (who also appears to have an advanced background in genetics and physiology), but I am not too concerned that Kostas is leaving after this year. If I am wrong and he does, then I assume that will mean that we had a great season and while I'll be sorry to see him leave, I'll be thankful that he helped the program continue to move in the right direction.

So Kostas will have an NBA ready body but not an A-10 ready body? Wow, the A-10 is better than I thought.

Add Kostas to the long list of lottery picks in UD's history. <sarcasm>

NBA scouts/GMs and those who run mocks have likely not seen Kostas play, but his brother(s) are really good, so he's on the radar for that reason and that reason only. But the scenario of drafting Kostas to get Giannis is interesting and something I hadn't considered. Regardless of whether Kostas is actually any good, I suppose a team could try to stash him in the D-League with Giannis' free agency looming.
